It has been a crazy busy week as I’ve decided to take up a summer course on Romantic art, since I am one of those people who just can’t relax and needs to have a full plate of things. Plus, the accident was not exactly a cherry on top of a cake when you’re a 4th year university student but with all things suck-y, I am always up for a challenge 
Besides, the heavy workload, trying to hunt down a perfect pair of sandals, I’ve been tackling a technological challenge: an Iphone!!! Me+technology=Disaster.
I am an old-school girl who was never fascinated by the witty advances of technology and therefore stuck to my good-old Motorola. That is until last Thursday when my dad decided that I needed an update. And who am I to disagree with the parents I am a good kid and if my parents insisted on a new phone, it would be wrong to say No! So thank you mom and dad, you guys are awesome!
I must admit that this thing is addictive and now my life revolves around it! Not only did I already personalize it with a Juicy Couture case and pretty pink wallpaper but also went into App overload. Now, I wonder how could I have lasted so long without this lifesaver…but on the other side of a spectrum, I hate the addictive aspect of it.
People no longer send out hand-written invites, thank you, or birthday cards. We don’t even need to make small talk of “How are you?” and “All the best,” or “Sincerely” over an e-mail. We can just directly send a text with a blunt statement or a question. The communication is reduced to the most primitive state of interaction. Personally, I do get irritated and offended when a person is talking to me and text-ing a separate conversation on their phone.That is just terrible manners. However, since we live in the modern day and cell phones are like a right hand…there is no etiquette when it comes to technology! The attitude that everything goes is exactly what ticks me off.
Personally, I think that there are basic common rules of good manners that must be obeyed with or without phones. And at the end of the day, I really don’t care how awesome BBM-ing your buddy is or how wicked that App is…It is simply rude! As a user of such a witty device, I totally get their awesomeness factor but that still does not justify as to why people need them on while dinning, having a conversation, or watching a movie! Turn it OFF! And don’t use it while driving…trust me when I say that car accidents really suck!
Since I am not one of those people who would sit there quietly, tolerating complete negligence of manners…I will voice myself. However, not every person is forward and will not feel comfortable expressing themselves. Therefore, majority of us might be acting in a way that is insulting towards others.Therefore, I just wanted to share some of the most basic cellphone manners that I read in a neat little book called “How to Live Like a Lady“ by Sarah Tomczak. I think that some of us might not even realize that what we are doing can be potentially disrespectful, even if it is as small as a text-message.
♥ Don’t answer work phone calls or e-mails out of work time.
♥ Don’t read texts or take calls in company.
♥ Never place your phone on a table during the meal.
♥ Keep your volume down.
♥ Don’t make lengthy calls while traveling on public transportation.
♥ Don’s discuss personal matters in public.
♥ Do switch off your phone in the cinema, restaurants, beauty salon, and on the beach.
♥ Don’t choose a novelty ring tone that will annoy everyone.
Besides my constant irritation with the beauty of technology, I did have an interesting weekend during which I had the chance to catch up with a few of my elementary school classmates during a reunion. Since it was hosted in a bar setting, I settled for semi-casual look with a statement shoe. I must admit that I am still completely obsessing over the army surplus and just can’t get over how perfect it is and how well it goes with my YSL troopers. On a side note, I also wanted to mention a little something about these shorts. I love the shorts to pieces but they wrinkle like there is no tomorrow. Five minutes of sitting down will cause quite a bit of wrinkling. So warning to those who want to purchase them, otherwise they are perfection!

The Romanesque revival buildings in a mix with modern betton brute structures surrounded by perfectly manicured gardens and alleys is stunning! And of course it is even more enjoyable when experienced from a Starbucks patio with a cup of Americano while reading away! ! If only every university experience was this poetic but for once I’ve learned to slow down, at least for the time being.

I definitely get irritated too when people ‘divide’ their attention. I remember when I was an attendant at the art gallery in Richmond, there was this exhibit… I can’t describe it well enough, but it was trying to address the topic that cellphones were supposed to make us more ‘available’ to everyone, yet the person that we are most available to (i.e. standing right in front of us) is ignored in favour of those contacting us through these devices. Definitely an exhibit that got one thinking.
I think with good manners and the right attitude, these devices are utterly useful.
I don’t download apps, because I just don’t find them interesting, but I do have a suggestion!!! You should definitely download some podcasts! There are free ‘audio recordings’ of classics (if you like that) that I am crazy about. Jane Austen, the Bronte sisters, etc. I LOVE them. They are a total lifesaver on the plane when everyone else turns off the light, and your eyes are too tired to read.. 
I can’t imagine how my life was prior to getting an itouch either! 
What’s most important is that I meant to say that I absolutely LOVE this outfit of yours, and that -given the chance, and if ONLY it weren’t morally wrong!!!- I’d steal it from your closet.

I love my iPhone but I do follow basic rules of etiquette! For me the most annoying is during classical music concerts or the opera when attendees forget to turn off their phones. Grr!

First off I absolutely love that phone cover. Also I spent many years of my life not caring about what any piece of my technology looked like, until I picked up my iPhone last august and never looked back. The speed, the ability to do so Many things on it, and the sleek look will definetely keep you loving it for a while! I always hear bb users complaining about speed and such, but with my iPhone I’m known to switch from texting to calling to checking my emails all without any problems.
I actually fell so In love with apple products that went out and purchased myself a macbok recently that I love just as much.
Wow that was a long ramble, but you def made the right choice. Technology IS addicting. But the iPhone makes so Many tasks simpler

Okay, number one, DYING over your heels! They are so fantastic, I gasped in awe when I saw them. I think it’s a bit ridiculous that during my entire time at Western I didn’t ever get myself to Holt’s Last Call!! It is on the to-do list.
Number two, THANK YOU for actually considering cell phone etiquette. I so agree with you on every point here. I wish more people would, cause I can’t get over the rudeness of people texting / playing with phones when you’re trying to actually have a convo face to face.
