Hello Darlings,

STRESS + SHOPPING = MORE STRESS

Shopping is a stress reliever, but realizing what I spent this month makes me feel even more stressed out. So I got to thinking, most women love to shop, but to what extent? Is it fun or is it really an addiction? I decided to do a little research and here are some of the facts that I found:

Lets get the facts straight

Compulsive buying is a chronic tendency to buy far in excess of needs and resources

Compulsive shopping is often viewed favorably rather than treated as a problem

Nearly 6% of the U.S. population fits the compulsive-buyer classification

Compulsive buying afflicts men and women at the about the same rate

Like other addictions, shopping fills some kind of a void

Characteristics are low self-esteem, and vulnerable to depression and high anxiety

DO YOU THINK YOU ARE A SHOPAHOLIC?

DO YOU HAVE WAYS TO CONTROL YOUR SPENDING?

My goodies arrived in the mail including a beautiful pair of Juicy Couture Italian leather boots
These were planned purchases. Justified?

Soia&Kyo Annisa Z Wool Coat
YMC Wool Cardigan
BCBG Wool Sweater
H&M Stripped Dress
Miss Sixty Knee Socks
Givenchy Floral Tights

On a completely different note, I went to the Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Pittsburgh Penguins hockey game. I love going to the hockey games - always lots of fun :)

I am wearing:
YMC Wool Cardigan
Idylle Tee
J brand skinnies
Minnetonka Moccasins

I wore my new YMC wool cardigan to have a casual but cute look at the hockey game. I would never be that girl wearing stilettos to a hockey game, which is surprisingly common… WOULD YOU WEAR STILETTOS TO A SPORTS EVENT?

Earlier that day

I am wearing:
YMC Wool Cardigan
French Connection Belle Trousers

AA Sheer Rib Scoop Back Tee
Browns Couture Italian Leather Flats

My Shopping Outfit …

It was still relatively warm and I decided to get one last use out of my fav. floral summer top
I am wearing:
Spring & Clifton V Neck Cardi
Sans Souci Floral Open Back Shirt
Corpus Alpha in Cracked Skinnies
Juicy Couture Flats
H&M Head Band

oh marta. you’re oh so lovely.

your shopaholics piece is super funny.

i find that i must make a list ( and even though i don’t stick to it ) it guides me. i have my moleskin w/ my MOST inspirational shots of the month and then i mark key things that i want. SO when i am just browsing and come across the perfect item…i can purchase.

    you are the sweetest.
thanks for all the lovely comments.

can you be anymore gorgeous??!! Its not possible.

oh my- your tag is too funny. i will try to post it next post. i don’t get these things ? but i will try my best.

    have a stunning week.

Wow, you did some serious damage :)

Shopping can really be a serious addiction. I often find myself in need of some retail therapy when I am feeling down, bored or nervous but try to stay away because I realize it is just a way to fill some void and never feel really satisfied with my purchases after that.

My way to cut down on shopping is saving for a few months (no serious purchases), collect inspirations, make a list and when I am feeling happy and satisfied with my life then go and do some serious damage (usually in a foreign country) :) It helps that there are no real shopping distractions in Bulgaria… don't know what will happen when Zara and H&M open here…

Anyway, picking the right time for shopping is very rewarding both in terms of being a realist about the usefulness of things you buy and being able to plan and organize a whole new wardrobe with things that mix and match.

  3. Ashleigh says:

haha I hate admitting it (esp. hate it when my bf tries to “ruin” my moments…compulsive spending)…but YES I am totally a shopaholic…like you said, when you start to associate emotions with spending (i.e. “treating yourself” because you got a good grade…) then its an addiction…:s..aww well..I try to enbrace it :P ..and stay within my budget…its the damn VISAs that get me…so I make it a point to always make sure I can pay it off in FULL….never a balance

  4. Ashleigh says:

AND….I love the boots…I was about to get the suede ones at Winners (exact same but beige) and then I thought….hmmm….$300..do I need another…nawww…theyre hawwwt though :P

  11. issa says:

your cardigan is so lovely!! i wish i could find one just like it! i think most of us fashion blogger have that shopaholic tendency.. i’ve just been quite good at budgeting.. especially with the US economy being as scary as it is! also not finding things that fit also helps me from buying.. lol. ugh. so depressing.

  12. Tiffany says:

  14. Dana (MODAna) says:

I love the things you bought, and I have to think consciously about compulsive buying
I think in my case it is hereditary - my mother and my older sister are the exact same way
I think as long as it is balanced and it’s not one of those “shopping for outfits to go shopping in” situations, it’s really one’s own call
oh, and as long as you’re not in debt. which is why planning is so important.
    love ur playlist!

  15. Susanna-Cole says:

Oh you are so right! Shopping can really be a dangerous additction if you over do it. ;)

I am a total shopaholic and I’m trying really hard right now to stop. I used to spend a lot on big things, and now I just spend a little money on lots and lots of small things which makes me think I’m ‘saving’ but in reality I end up spending more than I would of had I just got that one big thing to begin with!
I LOVE your purchases, those JC boots are ridiculously divine! You are also looking as cute as ever :)

  19. ♥ fashion chalet says:

I always look forward to your outfit posts. I think you are so cute. You have a great look, so everything looks perfect on you. I also see we are both feminine in taste. We like our girly pieces. :)

Thanks for the wonderful comment and compliment. I am still feeling sick, at least a little bit better today, but still, I am taking things easy. Thanks for asking. How are you doing, dear?

    1. I am too paranoid with money to have a shopping problem; however, I am def. a binge shopper…so I guess I really do have a problem! One extent to the other.
    2. Do you have any problems making clothing purchases online? I always seem to have bad luck so now I’m afraid. Any tips?
    3. Love the professional look. It suits you well, as do all of your outfits =)
    4. So What by Pink, Just Dance by Lady Gaga, and Paper Planes by M.I.A. are my favs right now. You got great taste girlie!

  21. ashleigh says:

oh you lucky thing. i haven’t had a shopping spree in so so long!

i think last year i was a really terrible shopaholic! my mum has always been a shopping lover so i got it from her, but now i have calmed my ways. i mean i splurge but i don’t go shopping as much.

and i don’t have a credit card! and i’m on a student budget. i’ve just learnt to recycle heaps of my wardrobe into new looks!

i definately agree with the casual but cute at the hockey game. you look great! i hate those girls who stomp around in trashy outfits to get the attention of the boys, who’s attention is clearly on the game and nothing else. and they never learn!

that jacket is definately a winner. you look great in all looks :)

  22. Diana Coronado says:

What is the brand of your shoes ?? love them !!

    ♥ U’re invited to take a Tiffany cupcake @ my blog ♥

  23. Kat says:

I hate to say it, I think you may just be a shopaholic!! But on the bright side, you make my problem look so much less severe!! How do I deal with my addiction??…I’ve been really good for the last couple of weeks…here’s how I do it..everytime I am tempted to go shopping, I put some money into my vacation fund instead and focus on that as my “reward”…

  24. yiqin; says:

Wow, the first outfit is AMAZING! The scarf, the socks! Really well put together!
