Hello Darlings,

In my opinion, running shoes should not grace the feet of woman outside her exercise routine. I am not suggesting that all athletic footwear is a fashion faux pas, since as we all know there are exceptions to every re with every rule.

One of those exceptions you can explore is the Converse brand. Nowhere near faux pas status, their all-American shoe is an icon, so popular that according to surveys 60% of Americans claim to have owned a pair at some point in their lives.

Although created as basketball shoe almost 100 years ago, it was not until the 1950’s that Converse shoes graced the feet of some of the world’s biggest stars. Converse earned its iconic status on the feet of The Beach Boys, James Dean and Elvis. In the 21st century, Converse also holds a prominent place in many women’s closets along with the Louboutins and Manolos.

Last Thursday, I had attended a media preview for the Converse Fall 2011 collection and went ga-ga over the Dr. Seuss kids’ edition shoes. Who wouldn’t want to wear anything that states “I don’t like green eggs and ham”? As for the men’s collection, the John Varvattos kicks were AMAZING!

I am wearing:
♥ Talula Babaton Silk Blouse
♥ Club Monaco Zowie Skirt
♥ Aldo Basenji Cotton Clutch
♥ Pretty Ballerinas Flats in Glow
♥ Michael Kors Watch
♥ Marc by Marc Jacobs ” House of Cards Court Harem” ring set
♥ Chanel Sunnies
♥ Carrying a Converse Backpack

As for me, I wore my favorite neon Pretty Ballerinas to the event. I figured that a lunch event called for a simple blouse and my newly favorite Club Monaco Zowie skirt with a pop of color courtesy of my shoes and nail color.

What is your favorite way to wear Converse Sneakers?

With Love…

    Dear Marta,
Is not that Converse shoes are not cute or comfortable, but they just don’t match really with my wardrobe. Of course I could wear them with a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt but there is also the issue with my height lol I’m kinda short (not really sure which is the measurment you use in Canada :S sorry, in Spain are meters, and I’m 1.65 / 5.4 US), so I always try to and a few extra inches… However I’m really looking forward to see how you match up everything! :) Love!

  2. I like converse all start a lot. they are affordable, comfortable and they last long.

Hello, sweetheart! I totally agree with you about wearing trainers and other sports related footwear. The only time I wear mine outside is when I go walking with my dog and he feels like running… Having said that I do love tennis shoes because they are so easy to wear with casual walk-related outfits. I also wouldn’t mind having a pair of Converse, but I am yet to get one. :) If I am totally honest, I would probably find it hard to fit them into my daily looks, and I think this is what stops me from buying a pair. But just like you, I am 100% open for ideas and suggestions, so can’t wait to see your future posts. xxx

You look so gorgeous! I love your outfit, especially the skirt and nail color. I don’t own a pair of Converses, though! They aren’t really my style. For comfortable flats I prefer ballets :)

I love converses, definitely my favourite shoe. Lately, I’ve been pairing them (and Vans) with short skirts and I like how they look.
You look fantastic. The skirt is so pretty.

I completely agree with you on not wearing running shoes outside the exercise routine. But, there is a but, Converse is the exception. I don’t own a pair yet, but I would pair them with jeans, no doubt, and a simple white or black tee. This is the perfect casual outfit in my opinion. :) Ada
ps: your clutch is gorgeous :)

  9. My friend wore pink Converse to her wedding - of course you couldn’t see them under her dress :)
