Hello Darlings,
Before I get back to my everyday life, I still have a few photos to share with you from my New York City trip. To be quite honest, I am looking forward to getting back on track, since I feel energized after my trip….
Before the trip, I paid my hair dresser a visit for a cut and highlights. I’ve been going for redder / copper-y look and slowly growing my hair out ( yup, even more)… and I am really loving the results. This trip put me back into my element and brought back my energy!!! With everyday things fall back into place more…
I spent majority of my time exploring the city: visiting museums and galleries, Park Avenue restaurants for lunches, Central Park with friends, coffee at Joe’s and hot cocoa at Dean & Deluca, romantic dinners, exploring West Village, Meatpacking District, Soho, spending hours in Bloomingdales Soho, Bleecker street fun with Marc Jacobs and Sephora, and last but not least Broadway and Time Square. We went everywhere by yellow taxi ( we did try the subway with friends and got lost 
)!
Stopped by Topshop ( I was excited, at first) but I must say that although the sales were appealing, the crowds yelling and rude girls were not. I realized H&M and Zara are just as interesting and cute. For those of you in Canada, who feel deprived of the Topshop experience (as I did before)… I say that in all honesty I was not impressed. The clothes were cute but the quality is not equal to the design, and the price tags are not worth it. Personally, I was disappointed.
Bloomingdales in Soho, now that was a different story… the selection, designers, and the sales… made it well worth spending hours in the store. The men’s section is fabulous!!! My favorite shopping destination was hands down Bleecker Street!!! I tried to stay away from the shopping and crowds, but how can you when you’re in New York?
The weather in New York was freezing and snowy But it so magical when covered in a white blanket. My wardrobe was pretty standard. For Day: Mackage or Soia & Kyo jacket; Cashmere Dresses underneath (warm and cute); Fun tights; Flat boots; Marc by Marc Jacobs Hoodie; Cozy Scarfs.; Moschino gloves. For Night: Dresses with fun tights, Kors or Stella McCartney Booties; Skirts with cute tops. For the entire week, I hardly ever wore pants… which I found strange. All of the outfits were accompanied with Michael Kors watch, or Marc by Marc Jacobs Little Miss Marc Earrings; or Tiffany & Co key necklace. Personally, I love New York style… simple and clean-cut.
The trip was fantastic and I love New York! This was my second time in the city. The first time… I really did not like it but this time I had a whole different experience. Manhattan is truly fabulous and charming.

As for the weirdness of hardly ever wearing pants, I have to say I’m quite the opposite. I own only 2 pairs of jeans and a pair of trousers. My entire wardrobe consists mainly of dresses and skirts.. so it’s quite weird for me to don a pair of pants! I feel rather restricted, actually!

Sorry it took so long to get back to ya! I’ll be seeing you in class tomorrow. Yes, I did indeed sign up for the Fashion & Textiles class. Exciting, minus that part where rosi continues to have RO as the designated room. I have no idea where to show up to class tomorrow.

I have to agree with you on topshop, I dropped by after all the buzz had died down and I was not impressed. I’m so glad you got to see the Met! It’s definitely one of my favorite places to visit (but then again, I’m a bit of an art geek
)
Anyway, the pictures are lovely as always. Glad to see you had a great time.
I’ve found I much prefer wearing skirts and dresses than pants nowadays… although I still do wear them on occasion! Something about dresses and skirts makes me feel grown up and yet still very youthful and feminine
I COMPLETELY agree with you about Topshop. I am generally willing to pay more for quality but their prices seemed inflated to me and their aesthetic just wasn’t that appealing, especially at that cost — I found it overrated. For their prices I’d expect to get more investment pieces of higher quality but to me it just felt like another trendy store and if so, I’d rather shop at H&M or even Forever 21 (for some reason, I just haven’t found that much stuff at Zara lol, maybe it’s the selection in Vancouver?). So you are not alone Marta!

It is good hear that I am not the only one…I agree, it is definitely overrated!
New York looks so fabulous, especially in the winter time. I love the Christmas tree picture you have! UofT was bitterly cold today, so you’re definitely right about dressing the same for here and there.
And about Top Shop - I’m with you; I wasn’t too impressed with a lot of their pieces. I have always been a Mango/Zara girl, and I’m glad they have those in Canada too!

I’ve been reading your blog for awhile now and I’m intrigued with your sense of style! When I went to Topshop this summer in SoHo, I felt the exact same way! It was much too busy for my liking, plus like you said, the quality and style of clothing wern’t worth the money.

Hello MArta, beautiful pictures. I love NY!!! As for Topshop I had a very bad experience in England with this shop, the cashier made a mistake and I had to pay for a pair of men’s shoes that I hadn’t baught! And when I called the manager to complain they suggested that I was probably lying and that I was just saying that to get money back so basically they accused me of stealing! They were so rude! No customer policy! They should be ashamed of themselves.
Looks like you had a fabulous trip! Very glad to hear that this vacation re-charged you as well =)

Wow, we really do have the same coat!! O_o .. ! I didn’t even notice, or I would’ve commented! *is blind* lol.. I wanted it in houndstooth, but they’d run out in my size.. so I got black instead.

Before I officially started to follow you, I’d look up an item, and many a time your blog would pop up. 
I do admire you. I really stick to classic-classic.. (read: safe) but wish I were as brave and adventurous as you -I’m too timid to try out harem pants, black & white stripes, hats/toques and the like… you can imagine how my ears suffer when I’m skiing! lol I admit I look really stupid in a toque.
