Important Matters Discussed….Boots!

Hello Darlings,
I apologize for being m.i.a, I hate it when I can't dedicate much time to my blog. With exams, essays, gallery exhibits, grad school seminars and of course, Toronto fashion week all coming up in the next few weeks; I am very overwhelmed while trying to finish the "special blog project".Therefore, please forgive me for taking a while to respond to your wonderful e-mail requests :) I promise that I will get to them as soon as I can.

Besides, the hectic schedule I am enjoying the beauty of autumn...nothing compares to how magical this season is in Canada! The colder temperatures call for cold weather wardrobe which of course is my favorite :) I just love it! Colder weather always offers a great opportunity to experiment with your clothes and layering. But most importantly, the boots are back! and boy, do I love boots!

Which brings me to one of the fabulous request that I've received regarding finding a perfect pair of flat boots! I find flat boots to be an essential item and one can't survive a winter without them. Living in Canada has taught one thing, and that is well-made footwear and outwear are key!Meanwhile, touches of warm wool and cashmere will take you through a nasty winter with a feeling of coziness and chic-ness. Just play with it!

Personally, I adore thicker leather boots with a durable sole... I would recommend against suede as I have had really terrible experience. After dishing out over $500 on a pair of Kors suede boots(2 winters ago),I came to face the reality only a month or two into the winter when my beautiful pair was destroyed by salt and moisture.Even suede protective spray and every day maintenance were not helpful. Therefore my suggestion, is not to buy suede for winter but do enjoy wearing it during the spring and autumn when the weather is still more dry.For snowy days, stick to leather or patent leather...actually, I really love my patent leather 80%20 boots for very snowy days, snow just slides right off them. In my opinion,if you take a good care of leather it will last for couple of seasons so finding a good pair is worth while!
So, here are so of my favorite choices of footwear at variety of price points, have fun and go for a pair that will really make a statement, something that will distinguish your outfit from others (actually, this is how I feel about every purchase) and truly make it yours. So lovelies, put you best foot forward this seasons:

Save... under $150!

Indulge...under $500!

Splurge...under$2000!
Be&D ($702); Jimmy Choo ( $1,195); Jimmy Choo ( $995); Alexander Wang ( $560); Joie ($545); Dolce&Gabbana ( on sale from $2,495 for $1,084)

As for my new pair of flat boots....well, I would like to introduce you to my new Kors babies! Just like any other Kors pair, they are PERFECT in every way...I love them!

As for the rest of my outfit which I wore to grad school seminar and then a day of fun...I kept it simple and cozy. Friday, was a cold day and this outfit kept me warm! I think that autumn is also a perfect time to accessories... so have fun with hats, gloves, scarves, stockings, knee socks....

I am wearing: Autumn Cashmere Cashmere Dress; Club Monaco Cashmere Scarf; Mackage "Leane" Leather Jacket; Calvin Klien Opaque Tights; H&M Wool Hat; Michael Kors Boots;Gustto Cokera Purse.

Well, ladies and gentleman I am off to study for my French test and then do some research! Ohhh the life of a student... leave to time for an actual life! :P

I wish you all a beautiful Sunday!!!
With Love...

On my bookshelf…

Hello Darlings,

As many of you know, I am an avid reader.... mostly of classic literature. However, in a recent month or so, I've ventured out into the realm of popular literature and non-fiction. Mainly, just for fun since reading long novels is not an option right. Reading has always played a huge part in my life and I'm not willing to sacrifice it because of the overwhelming course load.

So here are so of my new additions to the bookshelf:

A book that I was eagerly dying to read and currently working on it in between all of the school work. I am loving every moment...however, I am not ready to judge just yet. As soon as I am done I will let you know.

It is an easy 101 guide on how to handle the pressures of modern life in the most lady-like manner. It is short, concise and actually very helpful. I've always been interested in reading a book along these lines and this one was short and sweet.

One of the texts for my course, but this book is a fantastic and interesting read for anyone who's interested in fine art and the developments modern movements.

He's one of the leaders in cosmetic dermatology and his book is truly a bible to understanding your skin and how to care for it properly. I finished it in about 2 days and I would strongly recommend it!

This is my 7th Agatha Christie book and I am dying to read it. I'm in love with her work and intend on reading all of it ( which I believe is over 80 books).

From the author of one of my all time favorite novels, Leonardo's Swans. I cannot wait to read this darling during the Christmas break. I know for a fact that it is going to be fabulous.

This is my french course book which I find to be very good, so if any of you are learning french-this book is ideal. I know how hard it is to find a starting guide and thought that I might go ahead and recommend this one as it is very good. This book is also perfect for those who want to know French and French-Canadian...as it does point out the grammatical and verbal differences.

P.S. Also, I've been working on changing some things up on this blog...and it's almost ready. Can't wait to reveal it to you darlings!

Well, I'm off to do some research on Bernini's S. Andrea al Quirinale...

I wish you all a beautiful Thursday!!!
With Love...

Star Gaze…

Hello Darlings,

Some times everyone needs a new spin on a favorite... in which case for me it's jeans. Although I worship them and have over a dozen pairs, I am slowly getting tired of "the look".

So, I ventured out to find a pair of skinny trousers...and landed on this fabulous pair of Rag & Bone's.Not only are they super comfy but they also have that perfect touch of a classic trouser with a super neat cuff. I fell in love the moment I laid my eye on them.. they're also a very interesting color of cobalt blue! One word: LOVE! They are a perfect balance of classic and modern.I find it very beautiful that they are handmade since the craftsmanship is perfection.

I am wearing: Rory Beca Silk Blouse; Rag & Bone Trousers; BCBG Max Azria Tuxedo Blazer; Bloch Patent Leather Ballerinas; Juicy Couture Laptop Bag; A.V.Max Cuff; Diamond Studs.

To add a touch of femininity I went for my new silk Rory Beca blouse... which I also picked up this weekend. It is so beautiful and delicate and I love the details: a ruffled bib and double layer of semi-sheer silk. Topping it all off is my BCBG Max Arzia tuxedo blazer.

This outfit was ideal for class and my desert/coffee date with my bestie, Natalia. The day was complete by my chance encounter with the adorable Joe Jonas and the stunning Natasha Henstridge...these were my first star run ins and I still don't understand people's fascination with celebrities-to me, they are just people...absolutely nothing fascinating. So exactly why are people so obsessed with celebs? :S

Well, I am off to do homework for my architecture class and then walk my baby ( aka my Cocker Spaniel, Johnny)...

P.S. Darlings, Thank you so much for your support on my glasses dilemma. Your words have given me the courage to wear my glasses out on a coffee-date with Andrew.Huge step!
I wish you all a stunning day!!!

With Love...

Dior 4 Eye…

Hello Darlings,

In the last post I mentioned that I made a purchase that I never thought that I would....but no it is not a Chanel purse although it might be coming up in the near future ( wink wink, university graduation) :P But it is a purchase that I have been fearing for the past 10 years... I know that for majority this is not a big deal... but for me this is HUGE!!!!!!

It is Glasses!!!

Although I intend on keeping them for home and maybe occasional Starbucks run, I do not see myself wearing them out any time soon.I hate myself in glasses, done and over with!
I've been wearing contacts for more than 10 years now and finally decided to get a pair of glasses to wear around home. After lots of convincing from mommy and Andrew... I gave in! I

I am wearing Christian Dior 3660 Glasses

I just picked up this adorable pair of matte pink Christian Dior babies... I really do love them, I am just not crazy about wearing them outside ( just yet)...but might as well share them because they're exceptionally beautiful :) It's a shame that I have such an anti-glasses on myself only, I love glasses on others) complex since this pair should not be hidden. I'm hoping that my mind does change... as they are so beautiful and deserve to be seen!

So here it is...the moment I never thought I would face: ME WEARING GLASSES!

Honest opinions darlings, please :) What do you think?

Well, I am off to do homework...

I wish you all a beautiful day!

Designer Legs….

Hello Darlings,

Finally it has cooled enough for me to start parading my hosiery collection. I've always adored variety of hosiery as to me they have always been a way to play-up an outfit. Some prefer awesome jewelry I preferred hosiery. Finally, this fall 09 runways were packed with all kinds of hosiery making legs one of the key accessories! This observation of mine was further re-assured by a wonderful article I found in Flare magazine which strictly focused on.... of course, hosiery!!!

Shall we discover....

Balenciaga fall 09; Christian Dior couture fall 09; Jean Paul Gaultier couture fall 09

"Sexy dark sheers are back for daytime.Wear 24/7 with minis and fierce heels. Or pair with one of the new dresses, but keep it modern with sleek booties." (Flare, October 09)

Chanel fall 09;Elie Saab Couture fall 09; BCBG Max Azria fall 09 3.1 Philip Lim fall o9

"Ravishing red took center stage this season, with many designers opting for a head-to-toe monochromatic look. Pair with charcoal grey or navy separated for a modern spin. Opt for a bold matte colour or don camel tones to break up a dark suit or jumper."(Flare, October 09)

Miu Miu fall 09; Cynthia Rowley fall 09; Christian Lacroix couture fall 09

"Bejeweled tights with flecks of tiny stones dish up a heavy dose of attitude. Sparkly stockings make a statement with a classic blouse and pencil skirt combo or a tux jacket and edgy leather shorts. Avoid looking over-the-top by stocking to clean sculptured clothing and slick heels." (Flare, October 09)

Jean Paul Gaultier fall 09;Chanel couture fall 09; Marni fall 09; Jean Paul Gaultier couture fall 09

"Showstopping tights add an eccentric touch to rich tweeds and knits. Lively geometric freshen up day suits and jumpers. Choose those with a dark base and subdued patterns for a more classic take on the trend. Chunky platforms or booties look best with thicker stockings. Caution: horizontal stripes will make your legs look heavier."(Flare, October 09)

--------------------------------------------------------
My personal favorites have been variety of blacks and neutrals in all sorts of patterns and materials, however this season I have finally enough guts to try out color!!!But... Not yet!
I have yet to find a pair that will suit me, but for now... I am taking baby steps wearing sheer black pantyhose with grey and blue polka dots :) Tiny specks of color but a huge step for me! Not overwhelming but still adds a great deal to an overall muted and neutral look.
Also one of my fall favorites: cashmere....I love it! The time has come and I am ready to take out my cashmere collection of sweaters, cardigans, dresses, scarf, gloves ..... and a new addition to it is this over-sized cardi that I picked up earlier today :)

I am wearing: Julie&Jack Cashmere Cardi; Nicole Miller Dress; Calvin Klein pantyhose; Michael Kors booties; A.V.Max Cuff; Diamond Studs

I am still excited at how perfect it is...for now I will wear it as a light jacket and later as a layering piece... all I need to do is find an amazing belt to go with it ( proved to be a mission impossible!)

P.S. I also made a purchase that I have been fearing for the past ten years... stay tuned because trust me, even I can't believe it :S

Well, I am off for some weekend fun.... wearing this outfit.

I wish you all a beautiful week!
With Love...
Marta
