Go for your favorite look

If you already have a “date” outfit in mind, try it on a few days before the date to make sure that it meets your expectations. You don’t want to stress over a disappointing look on the day of your date. Always have a second outfit on a stand by! This rule applies for every special occasion, not just a first date.

Mix it up

If you’ve been on a lookout for Mr. Right on eHarmony or at your local coffee shop then you’ve got a few dates lined up! This is a good time to mix it up and have some fun with your wardrobe. Of course, you can wear the same look twice or three times but try to change it up. Keep in mind the venue and activity. If you’re going to a theater then dress up, however if you’re grabbing coffee then dress down. You cannot rock the same cocktail dress for both occasions regardless of how fabulous you look in it! Keep it occasion appropriate.

Be comfortable in your skin

Investing in a stylish new outfit? Make sure that the new hot number is not making you feel self-conscious. First dates are nerve-racking enough, you don’t need to stress over that tiny skirt. It is always best to go with a look that makes you feel confident and comfortable. This is not the time to experiment or make fashion statements!

Spend the extra 15 minutes

Crank up the music, take a bubble bath and double-up on mascara. This is the time to spoil yourself by spending that extra 15 minutes on getting dolled up. Not only will you feel beautiful but it will put you in a relax frame of mind. Rushing to get ready for a date is only going to make you nervous and agitated.

Be Yourself

Don’t go overboard! Sometimes too much effort can go the wrong way. Stay true to yourself! Do not try new makeup technique or style your hair in a way that you normally wouldn’t. Look as you normally would. The point of the date is for him to get to know you and not some glamazon.

As Calvin Klein once said, ” The best thing is to look natural, but it takes makeup to look natural.” This is exactly what you’re trying to achieve — a polished version of your natural self! When dressing for your first date, do not focus on pleasing him. You’re a beautiful and confident woman who doesn’t need to adjust, enhance or change her look in order to impress a man. He already likes you for who you are which is why he is asking you out! Now, just relax and have fun. Let this wonderful new man in your life experience the amazing woman that you are!

What are your first date tricks?

With Love…
