Hello Darlings, Following a long day nothing compares to having a luxurious bath with a good book and a cup of tea. Over the past few years, I’ve made it my ritual to enjoy a short bath prior to going to bed. Some may say, who has such time but I assure you that those extra 15 minutes can be found. Plus, they are well worth looking for!

*Congratulations to our contest winner Nancy!

Aside from loving bubble baths which can be drying on your skin when taken too often, I like to add Epsom salts instead. The healing and detoxifying properties of Epsom salts have been enjoyed for centuries and help with dehydration, insomnia and poor digestion. Epsom salts can also be used for:

  • Hair: Mixing a handful of Epsom salts into shampoo absorbs excess oil, allowing hair to appear fuller and feel softer. The minerals in the solution help to repair and strengthen split ends from over-styling and damage caused by heat.
  • Face: Skip the professional facial and take part in a do-it-yourself treatment by combining a pinch of Epsom salts with everyday cleanser. Gently massage onto skin and rinse with cool water. The result is a refreshed, rejuvenated glow.
  • Body: Epsom salts can help reduce the appearance of bruises and spider veins with a simple compress. Start by soaking an old t-shirt, or a cotton cloth, in cold water and a handful of Epsom salts and apply directly to skin. If cellulite is more of an issue, rub some salts on the problem area; the magnesium in Epsom salts helps draw excess toxins and fluid out of the skin, leaving behind a softer, smoother surface.
  • Feet: After a long day standing or wearing uncomfortable shoes, prepare a foot soak of warm water and a handful of Epsom salts to help soothe aches and pains, as well as combat odor. The anti-inflammatory properties help reduce swelling and puffiness and the granular texture helps to soften the porous skin on the heels making it easier to remove with a pumice stone or foot file.

To create a home spa experience and enjoy the benefits of Epsom salts, draw a warm water bath and add 2 cups of salts. Soak for 15 to 20 minutes. Take a nice cool shower to remove any salt residue, close the pores and stimulate circulation. Then put on your favorite pj’s and enjoy a blissful night of sleep.

For those who live in the Great Toronto area or visiting the city, I love to visit one of two locations of Body Blitz Spa.The spa maintains the age-old tradition of communal bathing where women can come together while ‘taking the waters’. As you know, you experience the therapeutic waters in a circuit. It’s the best way to spoil yourself for a little alone time or some quality time with your favorite ladies.

  16. At first glance, this will seem more like a stress-reduction practice than a beauty secret. But here goes.

    My beauty secret is meditation.

I’ve been meditating daily for many years, and have had the opportunity to attend meditation retreats to refine my practice. It is an ongoing struggle for me to find inner calm amidst the chaos and hyper-connectivity of modern life. But the more I meditate, the more I recognize its effects in my daily life.

By quieting our minds, we’re able to combat daily stress, improve sleep, and become emotionally grounded. Clearly, these outcomes have a higher impact on one’s beauty (both physical and otherwise) than a new outfit or trip to the salon. Beauty shouldn’t be the goal of meditation, but it certainly is one of its effects.

  17. spamgirl says:

Drink lots of water! It’s good for your skin, hair, organs and more.

  18. Monica says:

My beauty secret is simple. A touch of Vaseline around the eyes before bedtime. Moisturizes the area as well as eyelashes. I’m sure it’s helping against crows feet as well!

  19. Leeanne O'Rourke says:

Taking the time to run outdoors for just 20 or 30 minutes. A good play list on my iPod is important. I come back with a clear head - ready to take on the day.

  20. Gabriella says:

Exercise to remove the toxins from your body, exfoliate and moisturize skin on the regular, and dry hair with a cotton t-shirt.

  21. Erika says:

Drink plenty of water and sleep at least 8 hours!

  22. Kathy says:

My favourite beauty secret is gently exfoliating with Baking Soda, delightfully inexpensive and yet so potently cleansing for that glow.

Once face and body is freshly exfoliated (which actually gets product deeper into skin cells, better absorption), then I adorn myself with pure essential oils from Living Libations, and decadently lavish myself into a natural goddess that truly feels the beauty and good vibes radiating from the inside first.

Body Blitz is just the next step in this Self-Love natural beauty practice <3

Using mineral oil (baby oil) to remove makeup, blackheads and sebaceous filaments. It works amazingly well, it’s cheap and it’s great for sensitive and acne prone skin. I just put a teaspoon or so into my hand, scrub it onto my face until my makeup is removed and blackheads are dissolved and finish by washing it off with my regular face wash afterwards.

My beauty secret - buy a clarisonic! my skin always looks so amazing after I use it!!

    a good night’s sleep!

  54. Sarah B. says:

My beauty secret is that there is no secret at all, no mystery to the simplicity of minimalism. I truly believe that beauty can be achieved through being as simple as possible - there is potency in basic but effective routines, less is more, and in the long run it is better for skin. Makeup and face creams are abound with toxic chemicals so in the long run this can wear down face.

Instead, embrace natural beauty, and let nature be the finest companion to enhance beauty. For example, Coconut Oil with a warming essential oil of Vanilla, to pamper skin so softly and beautifully. Two natural ingredients in their raw form that do so much!

It really is the simple things that shine through, and that’s what Body Blitz Spa represents to me; a deeper connection with nature, authentic beauty and healing powers of the waters.

Health, healing, and relaxation is beauty too. And, feeling beautiful from the inside is one step closer to shining genuine magnetism and radiant beauty :) Thanks for this great opportunity!
