What Everybody Ought to Know About Shopping at Holt Renfrew…

Hello Darlings,

With Christmas just around the corner and Hanukkah underway, I spent yesterday shopping for gifts. Despite my school overload and ridiculous amount of errands to run, I enjoyed the quality time that I got to spend with my mother. From a traditional trip to Godiva to pick up a Dark Chocolate Decadence(you must try it, it's heavenly), to a million and one stores. Although everyone seemed to be incredibly preoccupied with their holiday lists, I could not help but notice that with holiday season comes rudeness and irritability both in staff and customers.

I understand that it's a stressful time and everyone deals with stress differently, but I don't see the reason as to why people lose their sense of manners and before a bit more rude. This does not imply to everyone, however I've realize that this has become a trend during the holiday shopping. For instance...

Fashion Magazine and Coty Canada launch Calvin Klein “Beauty” Fragrance…

Hello Darlings,

The other night I was invited to celebrate Fashion Magazine's launch of Calvin Klein's Beauty perfume at the Terrace Room at the Gardiner Museum in Toronto.

Along with 49 media representatives, I had an opportunity to attend a press conference and listen to perfumer Sophie Labbé and Senior Manager Global Marketing Stephanie Schwab discuss the concept behind their iconic new scent.Following the press conference, the space was transformed into a gallery-like setting that featured five photographic interpretations of a calla lily. The exhibit served as a backdrop to a fabulous soirée that was attended by 175 guests.

Overall, the night was flawless! And the company of Chantelle from Bellechantelle and Helene made the night!

Pearls of Financial Wisdom by Manisha Thakor…

Hello Darlings,

I am very excited to bring you this post by Manisha Thakor, founder Women's Financial Literacy Initiative. On behalf of myself and With Love... I would like to thank Manisha for taking the time to educate us on the basics of finance. Because as I've said it become, every woman needs to know how to stand on her own two feet and feel achieved :)

So Without Further Ado....

What women need to know to make their bank accounts grow...

1. Start Saving Now. These are the three most powerful words in personal finance. Why? It's the financial equivalent starting to use sunscreen regularly in your 20s. At first, you won't see immediate benefits. However, by the time you hit your 50s you'll be high fiving yourself for your foresight and great skin. The same goes for saving. Here are the numbers: Jane starts saving $5,000 a year every year starting at age 22. She invests wisely and her money earns an average return of 7% a year. By age 65 Jane has $1.2 million. By contrast, Joe waits until a more typical age of 42 to start thinking about his retirement. He saves the same $5,000 a year and gets the same 7% returns, but by 65 he has just over $250,000. That extra 20-year head start gave Jane nearly 5x more money. Amazing!

Holiday Prep: how to find holiday party dress and decode a party invitation…

Hello Darlings,

With holiday season just around the corner and shopping malls filling with crowds of people, everyone is slowly being absorbed by the holiday spirit. Of course, I adore this time of the year however along with the beautiful festivities comes a time when one needs to find that one, two or maybe three party dresses. Ones that will work for an office party, a family party, a girl’s night out and of course a hot date. With so many occasions to cover and so much to chose from… I set out to find my own holiday cocktail dress.

“A white dress she had on. She was carrying a white parasol. I only saw her for one second. She didn’t see me at all. But I’ll bet a month hasn’t gone by since that I hadn’t thought of that girl.”

– Citizen Kane

Before hitting the stores, I once again decided to turn to my trusty fashion books for some advice and tips on how to find that ideal cocktail dress as well as how to decode a party invitation. I am sure that everyone has encountered that one invitation that left you dazed and confused as to what is expected of your attire.

How to wear jewelry…

Hello Darlings,

When it comes to jewelry I am as clueless as it gets. It can be said that I suck at accessorizing. I am just too intimidated by costume jewelry, too obsessed with pearls to even bother wearing them because of a fear of going overboard, too reluctant to mix silver and gold jewelry, too nervous to look like a walking freak-show, too scared to wear fake as not to look like a phony. In one word, I am CONFUSED! I adore collecting jewelry but I never really know how to put it to a good use, in a way that could transform a look from drab to fab. In order to tackle such a dilemma, I went ahead and decided to turn to professionals and gather some visual inspiration.

" A woman's relationship with her accessories is important and elemental. Because, your accessories... tell the world who you are." - Nina Garcia

This is my first attempt at trying to lean how to wear jewelry in a way that truly does make a statement. Hopefully this little 101 to jewelry is going to help me overcome my fear as well as inspire you to either face your fear as well or to try something new. It's not possible to know or be inspired too much! S0 shall we :)

Under the Weather…

Hello Darlings,

Despite the beautiful fall weather, I am feeling quite under the weather with sniffles and the whole shazam :P But I am back with a quick outfit post from this Friday. Despite a fun weekend of shopping, dinners, lunches, and birthdays with my girlies... I had zero luck in the shopping department. After a Saturday afternoon of shopping, I came home with only a book :S. However, I was quite excited to get my hands on the new Nina Garcia book, Look Book: What to Wear for Every Occasion. Which is quite informative and always super fun to read!

Another great piece of information that I wanted to share was this awesome list of stores and services in Toronto that are recommended by Jeanne Beker. For those who are not familiar, Jeanne Beker is a host of Fashion Television and is one of the most iconic and influential women in the fashion industry in Canada and around the world. It's definitely worth checking out :) Click on the image below.
