Hello Darlings,

Last night, I attended the Gotstyle Menswear show at Toronto Fashion Week. Multiple collections were shown, and they were all very unique and beautiful. I loved it, and also enjoyed the pleasure of meeting designer David Dixon although I was too shy to ask for a photo!

In the right corner, is Adamo Ruggiero from Degrassi wearing sunglasses.

This was my first Toronto Fashion Week, and my first impressions are wonderful. I arrived a bit early, enjoyed some wine discussed the others collections that friends have seen… It was crowded, but some people were very friendly while others not so much… but of course most were well dressed. I will definitely be returning next season, as I have always supported Canadian talent and artistic culture and will continue to do so.

Michael Landsberg, Ben Mulroney, Jian Ghomeshi and Nico Archambault from You Think You can Dance Canada all walked the runway.

Got Style owner Melissa Austria, voted the best menswear store in Toronto.

I am wearing: Alexander Wang Dress; Wilfred Two-tone tights; Mackage Leane Leather Jacket; Pedro Garcia Mary Jane’s

As for my outfit, well it was a bit of a dilemma as following the fashion show I attended a birthday dinner and party. I settled for my safe choice, Alexander Wang dress with two-tone tights. Since it was cold and raining, I wore my Mackage leather jacket and uber-comfortable Pedro Garcia mary janes. Usually, when I am nervous about certain events, I wear an outfit that I feel confident in. And this Alexander Wang dress is always my first choice. I love how simple and easy it is to wear.

I wish you all a beautiful weekend!!!

With Love…

    Hey Marta!
Congrats on going to your first show! Must have been so fun!
I love the colour of your dress, but was just wondering how you maintain your Mackage jacket after the rain.
I just got mine and since it’s practically been raining everyday in T.O , I’m scared to ruin it in the rain.
    Just a question…
Anyways, good luck on your exams!! :)

      Hi Juliana
      It was great fun…. :)
As for the Mackage jacket I have a post coming up regarding the maintenance. As for the rain, I wear my in the rain as well all the time….it’s fine just make sure to leave it out to dry. If you’re worried stop by a leather professional and see what they recommend! Maybe there’s a protective spray, just to do use the one you use for shoes

      thank you for the luck!

thank you…. with fashion weeks, there’s always a next season. That’s why I was not rushing to see all of the shows but to just try it out one and see if I like the atmosphere.

I always loved that A wang dress on you! That criss-cross detailing at the front.. c’est génial! Bonne chance avec ton examen. Je me souviens des heures que j’ai etudie le français. Phew*
J’ai besoin de faire mon dernier cours de française cette été pour completer mon “mineur”. [le sigh]

P.S. Where did you purchase your domain name? I’m thinking of getting one during winter break so I can set it up, and make sure there are no glitches by New Years.

    • marta says:

Thank you… I love it it too, probably too much :P

As for the domain name I have no idea, Andrew did it. Let me ask him and I will get back to you :) The transition is such a pain in the behind :P

Since you’re on blogspot you can just pay for it and get it instantly with no hassles. But we wanted the new blog on wordpress (not wordpress.com) which required that we not only get a domain name, but host the blog on a web server (i.e. Bluehost). I don’t recommend doing this unless you at least somewhat know what you’re doing.

I was so impressed as well with the shows this week, although sadly I didn’t get to see any in person! I was sad to see though that there was no show from Renata Morales at either this or Montreal fashion week, she is one of my absolute favourite Canadian designers.

  15. Kristin says:

That Wang dress is KILLER. You look gorgeous and it sounds like you had a blast!

  16. Cordelia says:

It’s lovely to know that you enjoyed your day! :)

Your ‘safe choices’ are great choices, as always!

Like Juliana, I’m interested in how you maintain your Mackage jacket. I just got mine, and it’s already got a slight surface scratch, and I literally cried, because I was babying it the whole time I was wearing it. I touched it up a bit with a dab of baby oil, but still… *sniffles* Has yours ever been scratched? If so, how did you fix it?

LOL… that’s lamb leather… supple, beautiful, but very delicate.

    • marta says:

      Hi Cordelia,
      thank you…
As I’ve mentioned to Juliana, I have a post coming up on that. However, I must admit that I don’t have any scratches yet. But if it did happen, I would take it to a leather specialist.

  17. So chic, Marta! That dress is the perfect color on a dreary day. So lovely combined with
those tights and jacket — looks like a fun night! :) I hope the test goes well for you today.
