Hello Darlings,

Yesterday was the release of Sonia Rykiel pour H&M and I am a huge fan! Knits and stripes are Rykiel specialties, and I loved Sonia Rykiel pour H&M lingerie and was looking forward to picking up a few dresses. The designs are beautiful and bright.

To my surprise and disappointment, almost the entire collection was sold out immediately at the Yorkdale store! But what was left did look as beautiful as seen on the pictures. I grabbed a big chunk of the collection and headed to the changing room. With every try, I got more mop-y and disappointed….

… The clothes did not fit properly at all. The dresses were too long and the sizing was too large (xs fit like a m). On the hangers it all looked stunning but on me it was just completely off. Also some of the fabrics were not suitable for the clothes, making the designs look awkward. The shoes were cute but too chunky for my feet, and I also thought that paying $70 for a pair that is made of pleather is ridiculous. I was pretty disappointed, as I wanted to get so many things.

I did not walk out empty handed, though. I picked up a sweater, a skirt, a tote bag, a beret and a pair of tights. Overall the collection fabulous and very Sonia, however the fit was just off… I am not sure if it was my body type but things just hung on me. I was sad for not being able to get a dress.

While shopping yesterday, I also ran into one of you lovely readers, which was really awesome :) Thank you for saying hello!!! I am pretty shy in person but it was truly a pleasure to meet and chat. It is such a pleasure and privilege to meet my fellow bloggers and readers!!!

I am wearing:

Marc by Marc Jacobs “you set me on fire” top

Alexander Wang for Gap trousers

Mike&Chris “Paul” Hooded Leather Jacket

Sonia Rykiel pour H&M beret

Stella McCartney Sock booties

Gustto Cokera Purse

I cannot wait to show you the outfits that I come up with. This collection surely did add color to my wardrobe. As for now, the beret is the only thing that I could wear out of the store! As for the rest of my outfit, I paired my favorite comfy pants with my new Marc by Marc Jacobs, and since the weather was beautiful I wore my new Mike & Chris jacket.

Wishing Everyone a Beautiful Day!!!

With Love…

Marta

    Hi darling!
I am dying to visit an H&M to check out the Rykiel collection as I absolutely adore her. Must get to a shop asap!
I love the beret that you bought, it’s sooo cute.
And I’m sorry to hear you’ve been getting rude comments. I have been wanting to ask you a formspring question, but haven’t been able to think of one yet! :P

    Hey Marta,
I love the hat, its adorable! I must go check out the collection! I’m sure what you picked up is lovely. I find with H&M its a hit and miss for size XS; some pieces are truly cut like an xs while some are most definietly not. Maybe its the same with this collection?
Btw, I ended up going to Sweet Flour Bake Shop as per your recommendation and I loved it! thanks so much for telling your readers about it, their cookies were just amazing.

You look really gorgeous in these photos. Your skin is glowing. I adore the leather jacket and the hat. I am sorry you did not find more stuff you liked from the collection. xo

were these pictures taken with your new camera? because they are beautiful!

I find that a lot of H&M clothing doesn’t fit my body, actually. I’m not sure what it is, but I have only ever found a few things at that store that look nice on me.

    • Hi Sue,
Yes, they were… I still have a long way to learn. But the pics are all thanks to mom, she took them :P

With H&M and Zara it’s difficult for me because I fit perfectly into junior section but the “grown up” stuff often times do not fit me properly. H&M has cute skirts in junior section that work for me :P which is a relief as they are difficult to find as it is!

That’s so disappointing! I hate when you have your heart set on a collection and it doesn’t fit correctly. I haven’t seen it myself, as I’m in Australia. Hopefully the fit is ok for other people :)

    Hey Marta!
I’m loving the beret and new hair colour! I wish I could wear headbands! I loved the one in your last post, but my head is too small for the metal bands. It’s sooo infuriating. I have gaps of air on the sides of my head.
Anywho, the fashion class is my worst nightmare. I just dislike the atmosphere so much. It’s too intense and intimidating, and I’m not used to that. They’re still marking as hard as f***. I don’t know what point they’re trying to prove. I wish I could drop it, but I need a sixth course this semester. C’est tellement merde cet course, mais c’est juste 5 semaines qui reste. Presque fini!

Hope your architecture assignment went well. My derive literally reads like a blog entry.

    Cheers,
    Chantelle

The beret is so cute Marta! I am looking forward to your skincare/makeup posts, those are always the next best thing fashion. BTW do you know the store Anthropologie its similar to Liv but its not a single standing store. Their pieces are quite unique if you come across the right ones. I think recently a store in Canada opened. Good luck on you next tests. I have 2 coming up as well.

The beret is lovely Marta! The pink and black striped dress in the second picture looked really cute, its a shame that it didn’t fit properly. But I can’t wait to see your other outfit purchases!

Also, I can’t help but comment on the rude comments you have gotten for your previous posts. I have been following your blog for a couple of months now and I must say I am a huge fan! While (very) few of the outfits you have shown are not exactly my sense of style (mostly skirts and shorts seeing as how I don’t have the figure to wear them as nicely as you do), I pretty much relate to all of your outfits and your sense of style. It saddens me to think that somebody could be so rude to you for whatever reasons. Thank you for not being discouraged and continueing to be yourself, as it is very inspiring.

    Kisses,
    Stephanie

  9. First off, that beret looks amazing on you! I love the details that make it special. I might have
to go and pick one up…it wouldn’t be the first time, after seeing something on you, I went out
to grab one for myself. (like the sparkly bow ring from Aldo)

It is disappointing when a clothing line/specific piece just doesn’t fit right, and the way that we
expect. There have been a few times that I have seen an image, gone to the store, and have
been sorely disappointed. I, too, am quite tiny, and find that so many brands are too large, or
just simply don’t offer the right cut for my body type and height.

I love this outfit that you have put together. The colors and details are perfect. I can’t wait to
see what you do next with your new finds!

p.s keep up the amazing posts. Those who do not reflect the class and elegance of you and
your blog needn’t feel the need to comment. I agree that opinions ought to be shared, but
certainly in a kind, respectful way :)

Like Stephanie said, you are very inspiring / xo

I wasn’t able to be there in time, I got to the store an hour before closure. So everything that I wanted was already gone. Only the tacky pieces were still hanging there. I’m sad I didn’t get the striped sweaters.

  17. Dragana says:

The beret looks so cute on you!

I was very excited about the new collection, but now im a little bit disappointed…

And, im embarrassed to ask, but I could not notice that your eyes are SO blue! Do you were colour eye contacts?

  18. I love the way you have put the beret with leather it adds a little something to the outfit.
