Living in Canada

On November 27, 2008 · 25 Comments
Hello Darlings,

A huge part of being Canadian is to be geared up and ready to face the cruel and long winters.... that means acquiring multiple coats, parkas, winter boots, and of course heavy moisturizers and lip balm....

Frozen Lake Ontario - 14th largest lake in the world and it is frozen!

And although I enjoy the snowy days spent on the ski slopes, I don't enjoy dressing for the winter time. I find it can be dull, boring and rather frustrating. But for some fashion inspiration, I visited the Sartorialist and found some inspiration with this jacket.

Full Circle and No Mixing of Black and Brown: Although my outfit is not as exciting as hers, it is warm and cozy. I also present my brown side of the closet: I have black and brown side in which each color has it's own things that goes with it (jackets, shoes, sweaters, bags, etc).

WOULD YOU MIX BLACK AND BROWN? WHY OR WHY NOT?

I've also been asked to show a close up of my new Michael Kors babies. The most comfortable boot ever: suede with patent leather detailing...

I am wearing: Full Circle Wool Jacket Club Monaco Cashmere sweater J brand Jeans Portolano Cashmere Gloves Regina Italia Handmade Italian Leather Bag

These Michael Kors boots have a patent leather stripe running along the back, and I love how they add length to a leg. They are also super practical for winter since they have a flat heel.

If you live in Canada, what are your winter favorites?

With Love...

Marta

Hello Darlings, I apologize for such a delay with posts... I am once again bombarded with school work, since the first semester is done in three weeks.Anyways, lol....
Photobucket
This weekend I had a chance to see Twilight...and although I have never read the book, I LOVED IT... maybe because I developed a bit of a crush on the main actor, Robert Pattinson... hehe. I am now looking into reading all of the books... but since I usually read only classics, I am a bit hesitant.... WOULD YOU RECOMMEND IT OR NOT?
Movie Run
Good thing that the run from the movie theater was short since I decided to wear my new fuzzy Juicy flats.
Photobucket Photobucket I am wearing: M. Rena Wool Sweater from Mendocino Abercrombie&Fitch Grey Skinnies Gap organic cotton tee Royal Rossi Pink Cashmere Scarf - a gift from mommy Swarovski Love Charm - a gift from Andrew Juicy Couture Flats with pom poms Photobucket Photobucket

I am currently writting an essay on Andy Warhol ... and totally loved the covers on the books.
I wish you all a lovely day :)

Beauty and Health ….

On November 20, 2008 · 24 Comments
  Hello Darlings,
Here are my can't life without "beauty and diet" suggestions that I strongly stand by and my everyday essentials..
Can't Live Without... ( Literally.... P.S. click on the pics to read more about each) Photobucket Rosebud Salve - If I was stranded on a deserted island...this would be my only product. - I use it for everything. - It is always in my bag, next to my bed, and in my bathroom.   Kerastase Masque Nutri-Defense and BedHead Tigi HeadRush - I use it nce a week to repair my hair damage. - It is a bit expensive and hard to find, but it really is magic. - Bedhead Shine Mist is lightweight and makes my hair shiny and frizz free .   Tea and Ice Cubes
- I drink peach green, raspberry or Moroccan tea about 4-5 cups a day.
- I drink espresso but only when I feel tired- otherwise I try to stay away.
- Every morning and nights, I use chamomile ice cubes instead of a toner. - Chamomile is very gentle skin tonic to replenish and enrich dry or sensitive skin.   Perfume and Antiperspirant Photobucket Smelling great and feeling fresh are super important. I use Clarins antiperspirant, which keeps me dry and fresh all day. As for my perfume, Coco Mademoiselle is my all time favorite.   Exercise: Ballet Stretches and Rock climbing - I still do the same stretches I did when I danced ballet, and if you're new to it: Check Out this book " NYC Ballet Workout" by Peter Martins ( click). This book is very good. - Rock climbing is my hobby and it gives me pretty good exercise. - On the side note, I hate gyms... but I stay active by stretching couple times a week, rock climbing weekly, ski with my dad in the winter, and rollerblade in the summer.   Food and Vitamins
- I grew up in a health conscious family. - I don't believe in diets or saying NO, rather what's important is proportion.
- I am take multivitamins and Omega 3,6,9 Supplements.

Sonia Rykiel: Stripes, Colors, and Cuts….

On November 19, 2008 · 36 Comments
Hello Darlings,

I've always loved Sonia Rykiel and her signature black, stripes, lace, rhinestones and sweaters. "The Queen of Knitwear" is especially fabulous with pull over sweaters and her use of stripes.

After watching the Sonia Rykiel Spring 2009 show, I was convinced that if she can mix all kinds of stripes and make them look incredible, then I can wear a thick Rugby Stripe and not look like a box :) ... CHECK OUT this wicked video...
Speaking of Sonia Rykiel, the beloved Parisian designer's retrospective of the work is presented in the Paris' Les Arts Decoratifs, opening today (November 19, 2008) - the exhibit features 200 looks, including the works from this seasons 40th anniversary show.

Horizontality: Although horizontal stripes can be intimidating to wear, I believe anyone can wear them as long as they fall in the right places. So with inspiration from Rykiel, I set out to find a perfect pull over with stripes.... and here it is from Autumn Cashmere.

I am wearing:
Autumn Cashmere Rugby Stripe Sweater Juicy Couture Italian Leather Boots Regina Italia Italian Leather Bag in Purple

Also, this is my " new hair"after three and a half hours... I went two shades darker but with almost the same length.

I WISH YOU ALL A BEAUTIFUL DAY

With Love... Marta
