Formula that always works…

On September 17, 2009 · 21 Comments
Hello Darlings,

Some things just need to stay simple. When I am overwhelmed with school, the last thing I need is extra worrying about what to wear. Although it would be a miracle if I could wake up and know exactly what to wear instead of walking into my closet...making a complete mess, sort out a million things on my bed and always end up late, in a rush and somewhat dissatisfied with what I wore. I always have a feeling that I know exactly what I want to wear but as soon as I step into that closet... I am overwhelmed! With a walk-in full of clothes ... It feels like I don't have anything to wear?!!!???? It drives me nuts!!!!

I know ladies that many of you feel this way in the mornings as well....so what is your secret or that perfect thing that you always reach for in such cases??? You know, the formula that always work????

I am wearing:Club Monaco tee (underneath); Soia&Kyo Charlie Jacket; Corpus Skinnies; Ed Hardy Scarf; Pedro Garcia Mary Janes; Gap Leather Purse; Pearl Earrings; Diamond Ring courtesy Ice.com Jewelers; Chanel Sunglasses.

For me that formula is simple.... skinny jeans, simple tee, cute jacket, scarf, heel/flats., sunglasses. It is always a variety of the sameness. To a certain degree awesome, since I know it works but at the same time I feel bored... knowing that I can always resort to my safe bet. Plus, these new babies are becoming my absolutely favorites and I don't seem to be willing to take them off... they are soooooo comfortable it still amazes me :)

However, I have a plan of action:
- Re-organize my closet..and make a post on it( yup, I will have a post coming up talking about different ways I organize my walk-in as a few of you have requested) - Draw some inspiration from my favorite Fall 09 fashion shows and random sources. - Settle down with school work and prevent it from overwhelming me. First weeks are the hardest, always. - Go shopping with mommy! - Remember: Breeze and Relax!!!
Well, I am off to read....
I wish you all a stunning day!!!

Late Class and Toronto Style

On September 15, 2009 · 24 Comments
Hello Darlings,

University is setting in and I am back into my student mode but I am still having a hard time adjusting my everyday wardrobe towards a more casual side... :S Tonight I took out my Garcia heels for a quick-y to my Cubism night class...since I drove, there was no reason not to and one big reason to wear them: I am in love with these babies :Pand love dressing up!

Despite the heels I did keep my outfit simple and casual...with my über-comfy Wang for Gap trousers, bustier tee and a cashmere cardi to stay warm in those heavily air-conditioned auditoriums :) Which all got me thinking, is there a Toronto style?
I am wearing:
Wilfred Bustier Tee
Alexander Wang for Gap Trousers
Cece Cashmere Cardi
Pedro Garcia Mary Janes
Luc Kieffer Barbared Wire Ring

If you're a student what's your everyday "school uniform"?
If you're not what would you wear if/when you were?

Every Monday the styles of a local blogger will be featured. This week, it’s Marta Tryshak of With Love Gabrielle. When you look in my closet, you see a bunch of items that won’t match with anything. I buy things for the item itself and don’t think about the entire outfit. I picked Marta, a fine art/architecture student at the University of Toronto (SG Campus), to feature as our local blogger of the week because her closet is filled with timeless pieces. They can be worn in the winter or in the summer, and won’t go out of style. Definitely a great pointer for broke students! To help out, below are Marta’s must-haves for the fall season: - Long Sleeve Metallic Mini Dress - Simple Sweater Dress - Fabulous Booties - Leather Jacket - Cashmere Scarf You can read more about her fall picks at her blog, With Love… Gabrielle. Oh, and what is the meaning behind her blog name? Gabrielle Bonheur Coco Chanel is her idol.
I wish you all a beautiful day!!!

Super Stripe….

On September 13, 2009 · 18 Comments
Hello Darlings,
After a weekend of celebrating my birthday with the girlies and a Saturday night fun with Andrew, I finished off my weekend with a quick-y shopping trip to pick up some skincare and make-up and a coffee with my bestie, Natalie :)
As for the outfit for today, well simple and comfortable was the key... plus, I was just too eager to wear my new cardi :) Honestly, my obsession with stripe is becoming too obvious!
I am wearing: Jeanne Pierre Cardi; H&M Tank; American Apparel Disco Pants; Bloch Patent Leather Ballerinas;Gustto Cokera Purse; A.V.Max Cuff; Chanel Sunnies.
Also I am very excited to share with you this The Supermelon feature "Fashion Blogger Fall Picks" including my six must haves for autumn...(click on the title to see the rest of the feature)
Marta, WithLoveGabrielle.blogspot.comFor the past few seasons, for me it has been all about value, quality and timeless appeal. Items that are temporary no longer interest me; items that are valuable and are going to withstand the test of time are what I am looking to “invest” in. What I want are modern classics, items that will become staples in my wardrobe. For this season my top five essentials are:

1. Long Sleeve Metallic Mini Dress Although seen all over the fall/winter 09 runway, it is an item that will make you feel fabulous and the center of attention for seasons to come.

2. Simple Sweater Dress They are versatile and quite unexpected, and when paired with warm cashmere tights they are incredibly cozy and warm. Cashmere and wool sweater dresses are a must.

3. Fabulous Booties Simply because they are fabulous! They bring an entire outfit together, giving it a simple and effortless look.4. Leather Jacket This baby is a classic in its own right.

5. Cashmere Scarf A perfect addition to any outfit. Luxurious, functional, and timeless.

-----------------------------------------

Well, I am off to read a little bit about Cubism...bouncing back into my student life and the idea of non-stop studying has been a tiny bit challenging. Plus, figuring out what to hear has been a total pain :S

P.S. I apologize for taking so long to respond to e-mails and comments...I am doing my best :) Thank you darling for all of the support that you have shown me!!!! Kisses!

I wish you all a beautiful day!!!

From Las Vegas With Love, part 2…

On September 10, 2009 · 23 Comments
Hello Darlings,

First of all, thanks everyone for your support on yesterdays post!!! This is my place to stand up for my personal beliefs and voice my opinion on certain matters, I'm not very good at overlooking things :P Thank you for your sweet words! I adore my blog and more so I adore the new friends ( all of you darlings) that I have made because of it :)

This is the last part of my Las Vegas posts! Lounging by the pool was the best way to beat the heat...and of course, finally have a chance to wear my new Brette Sandler silk cover up.

I am wearing:
Brette Sandler silk cover up
Moschino Bikini
Christian Audigier One piece swinsuit
Juicy Couture Flats
Coach Wristlet
Large Floppy hat from a random store.
Align Center
I am wearing:
Kerrigan by Daryl K silk dress
Ruthie Davis Swarovski Crystal shoes
Coach Clutch

Despite bringing 6 pair of heels and 3 pairs of flats... those fabulous shoes you love so much become a torture device after a few days of all that walking and dancing!!! ( Outchy) After experiencing my first blisters in many years after the first night, I resorted to wearing my trusty flats up until the point of going to clubs.

I am wearing:

Alexander Wang Chiffon Dress

Juicy Couture Flats

Coach Wristlet

Luc Kieffer Ring

At first I could not bear wearing my favorite Wang dress or my new favorite tutu skirt with flats... however, not only did I learn to love it, but I also came to appreciate that it could look cute and add a touch of effortlessness to the entire ensemble. Honestly, I think that flats can look as wonderful as high heels... I know that this is the worst thing to say, since fashion dictates high heels is the most fabulous thing ever. I do find that flats are the best substitute and can be as chic as high heels on some occasions:)

What do you darlings think? Can flats be as fabulous as high heels?

Lessons learned: Heels are not worth wearing if you're going to cripple your feet! And wearing a floppy hat is a smart choice, not only to shield your face from the harmful rays but also to avoid heat stroke!

I am wearing:
Maggie Ward Dress;
Juicy Couture Flat
Gustto Cokera Purse
A.V. Max Cuff
Floppy Hat from a random store.

As for the rest of the vacation spent exploring, eating and lounging... I wore flats and more casual attire! Including my favorite Meggie Ward dress. It looks amazing with everything, got to love those pieces that offer you endless variety. From casual to night out this dress is ideal!

I am wearing:
Club Monaco Semi-Sheer Top
Abercrombie& Fitch Shorts
Bloch Patent Leather Flats
Chanel Sunglasses.

To top of almost every outfit I wore my floppy hat, religiously. I never thought that I could pull it off or feel comfortable wearing it, but I fell in love. A fedora may be the hat of the moment, but it made me feel like a teenage boy and really did not suit my style. Soooooo many people make it look a-m-a-z-i-n-g, I just felt awkward. But the floppy hat made me feel like a lady :)

By the way, if you're ever in Las Vegas check out the Bellagio fountains. They are sooo stunning (click on the video belong and turn on the speakers). Also check out the Eiffel Tower, the views from there is beyond AMAZING!

I wish you all a stunning day!!!
