Fall Delights: Top 5 Fall Events in Toronto
Hello Darlings,
The past few weeks have been buzzing in Toronto (and New York and Montreal for that matter). So if you’re bummed that summer officially ends next week and Film Festival is over – check out this list of fun things happening this fall to bring some spring into your step!
#1 World Mastercard Toronto Fashion Week – October 22-26 in downtown Toronto, many of Canada’s leading fashion designers will preview their 2013 Spring Collections. As many as five runway shows happen every evening in the large and luxurious customized tents in the Entertainment District and close to the corners of King Street and University Avenue. Yours truly wrote a daily column on the Toronto Fashion Week website for the March 2012 Fashion Week shows, which you can check out by clicking this link.
#2 Grey Cup – Chances are that I will ever play football, although facebook photos of friends playing catch on a beach do look pretty cool! But from what I’ve been told the Grey Cup game for the Canadian Football League (“CFL”) championship is a big deal – with passionate fans flocking together for one big week of parties – and of course the big game. Toronto Argonauts are hosting the Grey Cup at Rogers Centre on Sunday, November 25th, which is a very special game this year as it’s the 100th anniversary of the Grey Cup. So look forward to street parties in the Entertainment District in downtown Toronto, and more festivities during the week of November 15-25.
#3 Nuit Blanche – The first autumn event is Saturday, September 29th when from 7 pm until sunrise more than 150 FREE contemporary art exhibits and parties are happening throughout numerous Toronto neighbourhoods. So you now have the greatest excuse ever to sleep all day so you can party all Saturday night! “Nuit Blanche” concept was created in Paris France in 2002, and translates to mean “Sleepless Night”. Our Toronto version started in 2006, and an estimated 500,000 people are out and about downtown during Nuit Blanche.
#4 Innovators Ball - The 6th annual black tie party at the Ontario Science Centre takes place Thursday, October 25th. I haven't been to this one before, but have heard great things and know there are a lot of good people involved. The theme this year is Fly Me to the Moon, and it's a fundraising event with proceeds going to fund programs at the science centre.
#5 Halloween – No joke, I love Halloween. This year Halloween falls on a Wednesday (October 31st), which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. If you don’t usually venture out on the town mid-week, it’s way better! On weekends, the best places are usually too busy so the best nights in my opinion are Wednesdays and Thursdays (just plan ahead and nap before going out like they do in Barcelona Spain!). Please leave a comment below if you vote YES for a With Love Does Halloween party?
With Love...
