TOMMY by Tommy Hilfiger Spring

Hello Darlings,

A few days ago I was invited to an exclusive presentation of the new TOMMY by Tommy Hilfiger Spring 2011 collection at Thrush Empire Holmes. But who is TOMMY, you might be wondering...

Well, TOMMY is the recently launched line by Tommy Hilfiger. Since the brand celebrated its 25th anniversary, the designer is marking the occasion with an apparel line that is geared towards his 25-year-old customers. After all, they were the ones who made the brand iconic during the 90s when the Tommy jeans and rugby shirts were all the rage. This time around "eclectic mix of travel, nautical and neon, the Spring 2011 collection continues the pretty with an edge design aesthetic."

The collection was beautifully displayed in a gallery space. The clothes acted as works of art, each carrying a theme of youth and independence. The overall, presentation perfectly outlined the nature of this concept line, which was originally launched in October 2010.

Although it is composed of all-American classics, it comes with an unexpected twist of foreign inspiration. Personally, I've always been a huge fan of preppy styles of Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren. This summer for me is going to be all about prim and proper with the return to classics.I've already decided to explore the Converse territory...now it's just a matter or deciding on a color. White, beige, black, or pink? I can't wait to pair a tailored pair of shorts, a crisp shirt, a linen blazer and a pair of Converse :) The idea just makes me wish for summer and sunny days!

" The women's collection is all about the well-traveled girl who loves to mix treasures from her exotic adventures with her everyday looks. She adds global flair to her signature downtown prep with Ikat leading the pattern pack in either languidly long skirts of seriously short shorts. Muted colors are popped with a casual draped neon scarf or belt, and denim comes in every shade of blush. From Indonesia to the Andes, this is a girl who fearlessly explores the world and likes to bring a little piece home with her, even if only a hand beaded necklace or rucksack."

" The men's collection touts nautical neon, amplifying the traditional preppy look with color blocking, pops of color and dyed Oxfords. Bathing suits become a statement pieces as do tees sporting inside out pockets. Denim mixes muted with dark, plaids jump off camo and pinstripe sweater negotiates perfectly between a neon tee and plaid short."

Find TOMMY: The Tommy Hilfiger stores at 375 Bleecker Street in New York, 125 Westchester Avenue in White Plains and3229 M Street NW in Georgetown have been converted to the new TOMMY concept along with two stores in Toronto, Canada Yorkdale Shopping Center and Sherway Gardens. I've checked out the Sherway store last week  and it's quite impressive! All Tommy Hilfiger stores in Canada will feature a capsule of the TOMMY collection. The knits from the TOMMY Spring 2011 collection will sell for $24-59, denim will run from $69-129, and outwear will start at $129 for men and $139 for women. All prices are in US currency.

As for me, well I must admit that it is always tricky to get ready for such events. You never want to be over or under dressed. In most cases I am definitely the one to be running late with one foot out the door and another halfway in my closet. During those times—which occur on daily occasion—I settle for what is familiar and reach for simple. In this case, I once again wore my silk blouse but paired it with a tweed mini. As I've mentioned in the CK post, you don't want to be in an unfamiliar evironment feeling uncomfortable in your own skin. The situation is awkward as it is .

I am wearing:
Club Monaco Christina Silk Shirt—from Club Monaco
H&M tweed skit—from H&M
Calvin Klein Opaque Tights—from Legs Beautiful
Mackage "Peahes" Jacket—a gift
Stella McCartney Sock Booties—a gift
Diamond Studs—a gift
Marc by Marc Jacobs Bow Percy Purse—a gift

Since the event was on the same day as my monthly hair appointment, my hair looked great. Considering that it was a snowy day and my wavy hair becomes impossible to tame, it was nice to have silky smooth locks for a change. Also, since we've been having cold weather and snow... I've already brought out my favorite Mackage parka and went as far as picking up another Mackage coat, which you can check out here :) Well, more like my parents getting it for me for St. Nicholas. They know that I am a total Mackage devotee when it comes to outwear. My theory is as follow: The reason why Mackage has such warm, practical and yet beautiful jackets is because the brand is Canadian. And none understands winter survival better than we do :P
