Melissa Nepton Fashion Show
Hello Darlings, What an exciting start to my first fashion week in Montreal. As I arrived in Montreal yesterday and checked into my beautiful suite at W Montreal, I was greeted with an Aldo bag of goodies for both me and our contest winner Jessica for our Fabulous Meets Fashion experience!
Shoe joy aside, our evening was all about Quebecois talent and in particular that of Melissa Nepton, followed by a memorable girl’s night out at Le Plateau in W Montreal. I had the pleasure of spending the evening with Jessica Plusquelle, winner of Fabulous Meets Fashion, and Brigette Dumas, W Montreal Insider.
Prior to seeing Melissa Nepton’s F/W 2012-2013 collection, we were invited backstage to meet the designer in person and to experience the backstage action. It is remarkable how much preparation and team effort it takes to produce a 10 – 15 minute fashion show.
Melissa’s team was very kind and Melissa herself was a joy to meet. After discussing her new collection, Melissa ran off to prepare her models for before-the-show run through, which is when the models do their walk and the designer provides her feedback to assure they present the clothes according to her vision. It was even more interesting to watch how relaxed and organized was Melissa. There was no panic, just lots of energy; and the models seemed comforted by her composure. Overall, backstage was buzzing with energy!
After the backstage visit, we took to our front-row seats to view the wonderful collection of Melissa Nepton prêt-à-porter couture that targets the urban career woman. True to her style, the collection was mostly natural colors with splashes of turquoise and with lots of layering. The collection offered strong and feminine silhouettes with comfort.

Since no girl’s night out is complete without fabulous cocktails, after the show we made the cab ride to W Montreal’s sensual Le Plateau Lounge. With our Hope Cocktails and a few Chocolate Martinis, the night appeared to have just begun. After an hour or so, we have all become friends with plans to catch on my next visit to the charming city, Montreal!
