March 29th, I had the pleasure to attend the Gala of Light in downtown Toronto — an evening to benefit Street Haven and hosted by television personalities Sarah Taylor and Cabbie Richards.

The event took place at the upscale Easy & The Fifth with entertainment from DJ’s Lissa Monet & Johnny Hockin, and an impressive violin performance by Yosvani Castenada. Aside from wonderful entertainment and delightful cocktails, the event also featured a silent auction.

Back in the day, while trying on the many dresses at BCBG Maz Azria for my prom, I was bluntly told that aside from my wedding dress my prom dress is the second most important purchase in my life. Well, I am not shopping for a wedding dress but I sure did go shopping for a prom dress, yet again! Twenty-three and going to prom! Again...

I am sure every girl can relate to the drama that just when you thought everything was organized and going according to the plan, things get de-railed.

As I packed my suitcase for a week-long hotel stay during Toronto Fashion Week, I thought I had it all figured out! My outfits were colour-coded and organized with all my shoes pre-selected, and for every outfit there was a stand-by. But two days in, my super keen plan was failing me. Nothing suited my mood. I did not want to wear dresses and pretty blouses, I just wanted cashmere and jeans.

Sunday brunch has always been one of my favourite social gatherings. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee, the comfort of morning sunshine and of course a table with some of my favourite people are just a few of the reasons. Many broken hearts have been mended over mimosas and much advice has been given, and even more relationship advice has been received over pancakes or French toast (my favourite!). The tradition of brunching with my girlies or loved ones has been around for a while and even as our lives take us in different directions, there’s always time for a catch-up brunch!
