Just a random post…. After visiting The Little Fashion Treasure who made a post on Balmain $6849 tank top - Click here to Check it out - I realized how much Balmain is starting to irritate me. Sure the hype about Balmain was appealing for one season, but now it is just getting irritating. The pieces are stunning, but so is the rest of designer clothing…
To me, Balmain is like MK Olsen - first amusing but now simply irritating!!!
YOUR THOUGHTS: STILL FABULOUS OR NOW CLICHE???

I adore Balmain. I think each piece is exquisite. Sure, spending $6849 on a tank top is ridiculous, however the other items in the latest collection are fabulous and if I had a tonne of money I am quite sure I wouldn’t hesitate in buying them.
I love the grunge/glam side of the label and the iconic structured shoulders.

I agree. Especially about MK - I just don’t see what people love about her style! To me she looks frumpy, like she just throws everything on, and then forgets to brush her hair.

i think Balmain is amazing, but paying so much money for a tank top is just silly. Their dresses are great - for a special occasion ( if i could afford it) , but they should be a little more realistic about pricing their items….. especially basics such as tank tops:) i love your blog, you are a cutie pie !!!

Balmain seems to have the attitude “the higher the price …. ” .. Balmain seems to have these “fairytale-outrageous” prices

I still love Balmain.
but I would never ever buy anything.
it’s is far too much money.
I just take inspiration from it and either do it myself, or search for similar pieces.
Within this year I’ve lost my love for Balmain and the Disco-Chic…
I’ve canceled my order on the crystal studded heels (after admiring them for almost six months and preparing the money for them…). The FW 09 collection was too much in a negative way. Together with their prices: a no-no.
i still love both balmain and MK but i understand what you are saying.

OK, that’s a strong word. I don’t hate them, I’ve seen many peices I like. But it’s just too “NOW” in my opinion, too overpriced and it’s really not my style, which what it comes down to.
Plus I really hate those damn big shouldered 80′s jackets. I’ve seen one or two that are OK but the rest are a mess.
To put it short: I wouldn’t buy anything Balmain, even if I could afford it.
But I can appreciate the clothes on other people. I just don’t see what the big deal is, in general, but I could just be out of the loop.
Though I must admit, I love those studded crystal shoes of theirs! And all their knockoffs too
I think Balmain has come up with beautiful pieces. It’s everyone jumping on the bandwagon and acting like it’s the be-all-and-end-all that makes it seem boring. People overdo it and then they kill what they love.
ha ha, I completely agree-Balmain doesn’t irritate me necessarily as much as I’m not quite understanding the price tag. And at times, MK tends to look like a homeless person. Ah well. Such is life
not a big Balmain fan as for MKOlsen, she always has gorgeous shoes and that’s all i can say =)
I actually agree everyone and their mother is talking about Balmain- i think it’s becoming a cliche actually.
cliche. i think he does some great things; i love the structured shoulders, but i would not name him a favorite of mine. i appreciate you having the guts to say how you really feel. i know that we are in the minority in this circumstance.
