What Do Your Stilettos Say?

Hello Darlings, Can it be that women's shopping habits reveal a much deeper secret? IBM happens to believe so! Throughout history, research shows that women's stiletto height has been a reliable economic indicator. However this trend may be broken in 2012 as women may not only be overwhelmed with their finances but also with the pain in their feet.

According to Dr.Trevor Davis, a consumer product expert with IBM Global Business Services, " Usually, in an economic downturn heels go up and stay up — as consumers turn to more flamboyant fashion as means of fantasy and escape. This time, something different is happening — perhaps a mood of long term austerity is evolving among consumers sparking a desire to reduce ostentation in everyday setting."

"The analysis of the last four years of social media showed that discussions of increased heel height peaked towards the end of 2009, and declined after." Although some women may have deviated from the norm of escapism tendencies, I can't see ever not thinking first of my beloved 5 inch stilettos.

Of course it’s winter, which requires some obvious compromise. Although I adore my Coach flat boots, there's nothing that I love more than my La Baccarina thigh-high boots and the way they make me feel. With winter in full force, thigh-high boots are remarkably practical to keep me warm although perhaps not quite ice-proof. Plus, I just couldn't wait to finally wear my white Mackage coat with them and a wide brim hat.

With Love...

Marta
