New Beginnings: Key Transition Pieces

Hello Darlings,

September is a month of new beginnings, mixing fresh starts with latest trends. Whether it is a new car, a new boy-toy or maybe a new pet, september is the month to restart and reboot. Same goes for your wardrobe: restart and reboot. It is a perfect time to search for key transition pieces as you shift from your favorite summer pieces into a fall mode.

You don't necessarily need a shopping extravaganza.  Maybe you already have all the key pieces that are worth purchasing. It is for you to judge as to what's important for your closet.

I am wearing:
Juicy Couture Bow Pullover
 Club Monaco Zowie Skirt
Steven by Steve Madden Madee Leopard Loafers
 YSL Arty Ring
 Z Spoke by Zac Posen

As for me, transition pieces are the ones that I spend the most on as quality is especially important. These pieces are usually key wardrobe items that are simple and classic and will take me from one season to the next. Basically, items that I can wear almost during every season. Maybe, with exception of Canadian winters as those need special gear and one that I will talk about later in the season.

After much thought, I've narrowed down my list of transition pieces to seven.

These are my go-to and favorite pieces during this time of year:

1. Pullover

In summer: with a skirt and a pair of flats or pumps.

In fall: with skinnies, riding boots and a trench or leather bomber.

2. White Purse

In the summer: with almost everything.

In the fall: with a beige trench coat or a white cashmere coat.

3. Loafers

In the summer: with almost everything for daytime, especially skirts.

In fall: with skinnies or skirts with tights (leopard with sheer black pantyhose)

4. Ballet Flats

In the summer: with anything during daytime.

In the fall: most often with skinnies or pants.

5. A Cardi

In the summer: for breezy nights instead of a jacket.

In the fall: perfect layering piece.

6. Scarf

In summer: silk scarf for chilly nights. NO knits or cottons for me in summer.

In the fall: silk scarf or cashmere for layering. My favorite accessory.

7. Skinnies

In summer: perfect with a silk top or blouse and a pair of ballerinas or sandals.

In the fall: perfect for tucking into riding boots or booties.

For this look, I had a casual lunch date with E on a chilly September day. I paired my all time favorite Club Monaco Zowie skirt with my recently purchased Juicy Couture pullover. The bow detail on the right shoulder was too adorable to resist. To complete the ensemble I added my obsession of the moment, Steven by Steve Madden leopard loafers. It made for a cute and comfortable date look without any hassle or trying too hard. Easy and effortless has always been my approach to dressing; and having  well-coordinated transitional staples definitely helps in the mission!

What are your favorite transition pieces?
