Beating Winter Blues
Hello Darlings,While the sunshine and warm weather is easy to enjoy, not the same can be said for winter. In the winter we need reminding on how to enjoy it. Now, after weeks of brutal cold and a huge snow storm, this is a good time for one of those reminders. Yes, cold sucks and having lots of snow does too however constantly complaining about it to one another is not going to make it go away. In fact it makes us more miserable. Given how long our winters last, you’re setting yourself up for a hell of a long miserable few months. Why?
So while I am not one of those happy go lucky people, I do think that adjusting perspective can change the outcome and in this case, winter is not the end of the world. So bundle up and embrace that brave Canadian side and try to enjoy this winter.
While you may be tired of rocking all black, why not embrace the cold and have fun with some accessories! I mean come on; our style should not be compromised just because it’s cold. I am a practical woman and believe in convenience before frivolousness. This year between adding a new grey coat for variety, I've also added a fabulous après-ski inspired down jacket from Eleven Elfs.
It’s been my favorite go-to coat for casual outings and between its light weight, emerald color and cheer warmth it’s as much of a fashion piece as it is practical. So between the Starbucks runs, casual walks with my bulldog and casual brunches there is an opportunity to love winter and your cold weather wardrobe. Just adjust your mind frame! We deserve to enjoy ourselves despite the external conditions and the key step to it is quality and proper cold weather gear. So bundle up, grab a hot cocoa and enjoy the outdoors! After all, we are the North. So just because it is snowing, no need to be in a terrible mood just embrace it.
One of the easiest way to love winter is to take up a winter sport. Personally, since I was a kid I've loved skiing with my dad. For years, him and I look forward to winters so that we can hit the slopes together. Also on weekends my friends and I go skating together, and then grab drinks and catch up. With my mom and my bulldog, we enjoy long walks in the park while it snows. Bonnie - my dog - really enjoys playing in the snow and watching her makes it all worthwhile. Sometimes it's just a matter of forming new habits and what's a better time to start if not this winter? Spend those cold days with those you care about most and we sure to bundle up and have fun with your winter clothes.
With Love...
