Clicquot in The Snow - Mont Tremblant

Introducing Audio Blog Posts. From now on I’m excited to read my posts to you. Just click PLAY below or continue reading.

It was a sunny Friday morning, I had just finished teaching my lecture and my car was all packed up. After spending forty minutes in Toronto traffic, I finally picked up Shayla. We were heading out for a girl's weekend. What started out as a weekend trip to Tremblant with Veuve Clicquot was extended to a wine tasting in Prince Edward County.

I love road trips! When I’m not stuck in traffic, I find driving soothing—an opportunity to disconnect and catch up with whomever I’m with, or on my podcasts. No texting and driving for me. I love a good conversation or a sing along. Having driven through most of Europe, Ireland and Iceland, driving is my jam.

Since we were expected to be at Tremblant on Saturday afternoon, we decided to take the rest of our Friday off and stop at Drake Devonshire Inn en route to Quebec. An overnight stay and an afternoon of wine tasting is just what we were looking for. After a short three hour drive we were welcomed with a glass of rosé at Drake. This being my second time at the property, I loved how quaint it was in comparison to the summer time. In fact, from check in until check out the next day, we did not leave the property. We spent our time drinking wine, playing board games and just hanging out downstairs. That’s the thing about small hotels, it feels like home but with a chance to meet new people.

The next morning, a heavy storm was expected and so we left prior to it hitting the area. The scenic country road leads us up to Ottawa and then into the Laurentian Mountains. This was my second trip to Tremblant this winter, and I was excited. You see, I love winters. The cold. The snow. The skiing. The après-skiing. The evenings in a hot tub while it’s snowing. And of course, the nights by a fireplace. What is there not to love?

Upon arriving and checking in at Fairmont Tremblant, which is the only property that I have stayed at while visiting the area, we were welcomed with a surprise gift from the Veuve team. A quick shower and change of outfits, and we were ready for a night of festivities. That evening, with a team that I’ve had the pleasure of knowing for years, and new friends that we made that night, we indulged in the best of what the winter season has to offer. If only every après-ski was as delightful as this one! From a cocktail party outdoors by the fire pits in -20, to a beautifully curated dinner at Choux Gras Brasserie Culinaire, it was an evening to remember!

While the night was young, Shayla and I finished the evening with a night of dancing at a nearby lounge. After all, no girls trip is complete without a night of silly shenanigans and dancing. And one thing that Shayla and I always do while on a trip is dance!

Let’s say the next morning was not a walk in the park! A lesson gained from that evening was mixing champagne and vodka is not a recipe for a successful morning. So, we started ours in the afternoon with breakfast in bed—perhaps brunch in bed is a more appropriate way to describe it, and then an afternoon at Moment Spa. Thanks to them I was introduced to the magical skincare by Velmont, but that’s for another post. That entire Sunday was a much needed lazy day spent at the spa, then pool and playing board games.

Naturally, throughout the entire weekend I had the opportunity to ski. I am forever grateful to my dad for introducing me to the sport over 20 years ago. Skiing gives me the type of freedom that I have yet to find outside of the slopes! While Shayla is not a winter sports enthusiast, her après-ski spirit was well matched with my post-solo ski runs excitement!

Many thanks to the entire Veuve Clicquot Canada team for including us in this one-of-a-kind experience, and for giving us a beautiful weekend escape!

With Love…

Marta
