Always Travel In Style

Hello Darlings, Yet again, spending my evening in an airport lounge this time at the Toronto Island Billy Bishop airport en route to Montreal after speaking at the She's Connected Conference. Of all airports, Toronto Island airport is my favorite. There is something so quaint about drinking cappuccino in a comfy chair and catching up with the twitterverse. It almost feels like "me time" but the reality is there is not that much glamour with travel anymore!

Glamour or not, travel is increasingly part of most people's lives. And in my own travels, I have seen both many fashionable travel outfits as utter disasters. On this night, I am writing this while sitting across from a lady sporting a pair of bunny pj's and a designer purse — a combination that is practically killing me.

Naturally, every woman wants to be comfortable while traveling, so it's very easy to choose comfort over aesthetics. However, when getting dressed for travel always ask yourself this telling question, "would I want my ex to catch me looking like this?". And more so, traveling is also one of your best chances to meet interesting new people! On almost every flight I end up in an interesting conversation with an absolute stranger, so ask yourself how possibly could "bunny girl" expect to be taken seriously by a great new business prospect, or found appealing by a hot guy?

I am not speaking of heels and your most fabulous silk blouse. But why not wear your cute flats or polished boots, with jeans and a touch of cashmere. There is nothing more comfy and warm than a soft cashmere sweater or scarf while mid-flight. Also, a fabulous large tote or a laptop bag is a must for a girl on the go. For long flights, remember to go sans make-up, moisturize and hydrate to ensure that you stay looking fresh.

So ladies, put remember when traveling you just never know who you will meet or by chance run into! It is best to be caught looking drop dead gorgeous than a mess ;) Do you have a favorite travel outfit?
