Girls Trip to Disney World

Having finished packing for a girls' weekend getaway, I found myself thinking back to the last one I took. My first trip to Disney World in Orlando, Florida!

Despite visiting Florida regularly, before that trip, I had never in my 30 years been to Disney. Having immigrated to Canada at 10 years old, my parents were more concerned about saving for my university education than they were with splurging on lavish trips to theme parks. Until this day, my father jokes that they will finally take me when I have children.

Being a lifelong fan of Disney and Pixar, this trip was one of the highlights of my 2018! From the moment we landed and began blasting N Sync in our convertible, to the last day that we visited the Animal Kingdom (and almost missed our flight home) we had a blast. In one weekend, we made time for everything!

While Disney World includes four theme parks, we decided on two: the Magical and Animal Kingdom. Our first day went by in a blur at the Magical Kingdom. It is truly a dream. There's no better word to explain it. After 11 hours there, no bed felt more heavenly.

The following day we spent relaxing at the Waldorf Astoria Orlando, where we were staying. Located just outside the park, the property is the perfect escape for adults—sophisticated and excellent in their customer care. While both Kencia and I loved embracing our inner child at the parks, we equally enjoyed our time there, sipping frozen drinks by the pool, and getting pampered at the spa—a stunning space that includes rare himalayan salt therapy. Following our hydra-facials, we enjoyed quiet time in the tea room. That night was for an early dinner and rest.

Our third and last day was spent at the Animal Kingdom. While I loved the Magical Kingdom, this one was my favourite.

After a long day, we were back on the plane in time for Monday meetings in the morning! Short and sweet, it was a girls trip that allowed us to embrace our inner child and indulge our adult selves, too.

With Love…

Marta
