Miami Swim Week 2015

Hello Darlings, Whenever a woman checks her bags at the gate, she always says a little prayer hoping that her beloved wardrobe arrives at the final destination. This is especially the case when travelling for a fashion week. Being stranded without a wardrobe would be a crises more so than any other time. As Miya - our beauty editor - and I said our farewell to the luggage, it was supposed to have been just a quick 3 hour flight to the sunny Miami.

Unfortunately our trip started off on an adventurous side. Miami airport was closed due to weather and our flight made an emergency landing at Fort Myers to refuel. With a two hour setback we safely landed in Miami and as did our luggage. Some will say that it's not the destination but the journey that matters, well if our journey to the destination was any telltale sign then the week ahead surely seemed promising. As our taxi pulled up to Mondrian South Beach it was with a great relief that we checked  into our room rushing to get ready for the 10th anniversary Swim Week opening party.

With too little time and too much frizz to tackle, we did what any savvy women would do! In the words of Elizabeth Taylor, "pour yourself a drink, put on some lipstick, and pull yourself together." — well, that's just exactly what we did! More often I would advise against drinking and putting on make up but  when a crises is at hand a glass of wine sure takes the edge of the situation. Plus, what's a friend for when she's not going to tell you the truth on how you look.

So what's a girl to do when time is not on her hand and the occasion is kinda important? Aside from pouring a drink, the most important thing is to style your hair. Nothing makes a woman look more frumpy than messy hair, once that's out of the way tackle the beauty situation. If you have some time then be sure to spend it on perfecting your eye. If you're short on time then wear a bold lip color to bring out your eyes. While in the shower brainstorm some looks and when all else fails pull out that little black dress and the highest pair of pumps!

For the opening party I decided on a blue BCBG MAX AZRIA dress which seemed to fit perfectly with the navy hues of the Swim Week branding and a pair of my new of Valentino rockstud pumps. I've been obsessing over these babies for months now and they are as perfect as they seemed.

I AM WEARING: BCBG MAX AZRIA Solie Dress // Valentino Rockstud Pumps

As it turned out, Swim Week  got nothing on New York, Toronto or Montreal fashion weeks! The best way to describe the vibe of the entire evening at the beautiful Raleigh Hotel would be as simple as chill! Everything about the event was leisurely and easy, no muss and no fuss. So unlike other fashion week events where the stress levels are running high, this was one of the most relaxing experiences.

With Love...
