Since signing up for the Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from American Express, I've had the pleasure to travel to South Beach on accumulated Starpoints. I booked my  flight and hotel stay at the W South Beach on Starpoints and at the end of my stay I was able to use my extra Starpoint to settle a large part of my room service charges. My SPG Amex Card has quickly become my must-have travel companion when booking travel, whether it be for work, travel or personal.

To help rack up Starpoints quickly, I have been using the card for everyday purchases. Instead of turning to my debit card, I'm using my SPG Amex Card to help collect more rewards through every day spending. This way, I can avoid paying the bank fees associated with using a debit card and also continue to accumulate Starpoints which can then be used towards hotel stays or flight costs when traveling.

For every $1 in purchases I earn 1 Starpoint and when you sign up for the SPG Amex Card you will receive a 10,000 Starpoint welcome bonus after you charge $500 in purchases to your Card in your first three months. You can also pick up 5,000 Starpoints when you transfer 20,000 to a frequent flyer program. The rewards can be used to book flights or to stay at any of the over 1,100 Starwood properties worldwide.

For a girl who travels a lot, the card also offers great insurance coverage. When you use your SPG Amex Card to book flights, you receive flight and baggage delay insurance. When traveling and things don’t go as expected, benefits like this can make a huge difference!  Another great thing about the Card is that if baggage is delayed, the Card offers up to $500 in necessary coverage. These securities are great to have when away from home and knowing from first-hand experience, Amex offers exceptional customer service!

So, with spring now in the air, the snow slowly melting and flowers starting to bloom, it’s time to start anew. I love knowing that stocking my summer wardrobe could actually get me closer to runway shows for fall and winter.
