My New Hair: EXIT Salon Experience

Hello Darlings,

At 12:30 on the dot on Wednesday, I was sipping coffee and fidgeting around in a butter soft chair at EXIT Salon, waiting to meet Rebecca and Leland. It was my first time in 7 years that new hands were to touch my hair. This was not just any hair appointment: it was my first hair appointment with a new creative team.

After breaking off a relationship with my stylist of 7 years, my hair and I were both overwhelmed. The prospect of looking for a new salon was as terrifying as the thought of spending yet another day with a fading dye job and split ends.   I finally found the courage to explore the unknown and report back.

I was ready to experiment for a greater cause: I set out to discover what it is that a girl should look for when in search of a new colorist and stylist. Following a bit of research and a few recommendations, I decided to take that risk with EXIT Salon at 1360 Yonge Street, Toronto. EXIT is Redken’s flagship salon and is owned by an award winning professional, Rob Pizzuti.

I was more nervous about my hair appointment then I was at the prospect of lying in a hospital about to receive surgery. I am sure that every girl can relate to this: there’s nothing worse than not knowing what to expect. After all, it is my hair we are talking about! Some people have signature aspects of their look, like lip colors or tattoos; my signature is red, wavy hair.

I am wearing:
Wilfred Silk Dress
Diane Von Furstenberg roccoco armour silk jacket
Repetto "Rose Amour" Ballerinas
Michael Kors Watch

This story has a happy end; as I am the happiest I’ve ever been with my hair. Rebecca did a phenomenal job with my color. We went for subtle ombre hair: red with lighter touches around the face framing strands and along the ends. Meanwhile, Leland transformed my boring waves into fun and bouncy layers to frame my face. To say that I am happy would be an understatement!

In the upcoming post, I discover the truth behind looking for a new colorist and stylists: what to look for, what to ask, what to avoid and when to leave. Also, I’ll tell you about what to do when your hair experience goes wrong and tell you about some basic hair care 101. Look for all of this coming up soon!

What do you think are the most important part of looking for a new colorist and stylists?

I would like to send out a HUGE Thank You to Rob, Rebecca and Leland for making my day so enjoyable and for making me feel very beautiful!!!

Wishing Everyone a Lovely Friday Night!!!

With Love...

Marta
