In a New York Minute

Hello Darlings, A quote cannot be anymore true that the one said by an architecture critic Paul Goldberger, "New York remains what it has always been: a city of ebb and flow, a city of constant shifts of population and economics, a city of virtually no rest. It is harsh, dirty, and dangerous, it is whimsical and fanciful, it is beautiful and soaring – it is not one or another of these things but all of them, all at once, and to fail to accept this paradox is to deny the reality of city existence."

One cannot describe the city  as complex in structure as it is in its society as well as Goldberger did . New York city is a love and hate affair for many people! With every return to the city you're caught off guard by the pleasant and not so pleasant surprises. You love it for its careless character and constant motion and yet hate it for its rough and blunt expressions of people and surroundings. It is a city of contradictions that regardless of what you feel towards, you come to admire over the course of time!

After a quick flight into Newark airport and not so quick ride to Manhattan, two girls from different cities checked into at the New York Palace on Madison Avenue. The hotel is a combination of a modern luxury with a 55 story tower cascading over a historic Villard Mansion. Surrounded by the history of this icon city and just across the street from pure indulgence of Saks Fifth Avenue, one girl from Toronto and another from Montreal began their weekend adventure in a city that never sleeps.

Never sleep is exactly what we did! From Upper East Side, Soho, West Village and then back to  Madison we explored various areas from one restaurant to the next and one store to the other. In a city as vast in choices, it is best to go unplanned and ready for an adventure. Every morning presented a new conquest and every night an opportunity to meet someone new and interesting. So when going to New York, just go with the flow of the city and you will be surprised as to how much you will discover!
