Busy Girl Hacks: Jumpsuit

You’ll hear me say it over and over again, bless the person who thought of introducing jumpsuits into the world of fashion.

However, unlike the simplicity of a garment itself, the history is far more complex, and much less glamorous. In fact, the name “jumpsuit” is very literal, as it was first developed for parachuters.

After a 30 year fashion hiatus, the late 60’s and 70’s saw a renewed interest in the style when Schiaparelli brought jumpsuits back again into her collections, and other designers such as Yves Saint-Laurent and Norma Kamali began to follow suit. Before long, jumpsuits were dominating the hedonistic dance floors of the 1970s.

Today, they have reached the status of fashion staple.

My love for jumpsuits began with our family vacation to Black Sea in the early 90s. I was 5 years old, and my mother had this chic, sky blue jumpsuit made out of cotton that she loved to wear. It was simple and timeless, and will forever be cemented in my memory as my mother's coolest look. (Mom, I know you’re reading and you always look awesome! But that short jumpsuit was unforgettable. So much so, that I’m still on the hunt to find a similar one.)

In the last year, jumpsuits have come to replace the majority of my dress purchases. When I don't have a lot of time, and want to feel effortlessly chic, they're a go-to staple. For every woman, occasion, mood, season, and accessory, there is a jumpsuit. That is why it is every busy girl's wardrobe hack!
