Whistler , British Columbia

Hello Darlings, As the saying goes, life is what happens when you are busy making other plans... Two weeks ago, stars aligned and I was able to combine some much needed me time staying at the Westin Whistler resort with a week exploring British Columbia to write stories and of course to take lots of photos.

Skiing is my favorite winter sport, yet this was my first time skiing at a big mountain. The experience is incredible, especially skiing above the tree line on big wide open runs. Also, forget that I am flat on my back in the next photo, and notice the abundance of snow and that I was alone skiing on this run!

Whistler is one of the most famous ski resorts in Canada, and now I understand why. The skiing is phenomenal, with so many options for skiers at all levels of experience. And what really impressed me is how I could take the lifts all the way to the top of both Whistler and Blackcomb mountains, to enjoy the amazing panorama views and still have the option to avoid super steep double or single back diamonds, well done Whistler Blackcomb.

While a professional ski career is definitely not happening in this lifetime, I could possibly make the Canadian National Tweeting Team... and I have to say how impressive it is wherever you venture at Whistler Blackcomb there is cell service!

Nice surprise finding the Harmony Hut Tea House at the summit of Whistler Mountain. It's pretty windy at 7,000 feet, but worth going all the way to the summit if for no other reason than to say you did. Perfect next location for a DAVIDsTEA if you ask me, especially to confirm it's status as the uber Canadian cousin to Starbucks!

Not sure if this is a saying too, but play hard all day, play hard all night... Next up for tomorrow is my experience with the restaurants and nightlife in Whistler Village.

With Love...

Marta
