Sofas Like Designer Purses

Hello Darlings, As I am learning for the first time, decorating is a fun yet frustrating challenge. The past week was my first full-on foray into the world of furniture shopping and decorating, and after visiting about a dozen stores I've yet to make my first purchase – and have come to appreciate how similar of a task it is to shopping for a designer purse.

In my mind, the sofa is a statement piece and there is absolutely no way that I can decorate the rest of my living, dining room and kitchen until I first select my new sofa. Since the entire area is an open concept, the entire room needs to flow and transition but without that sofa my week has been a bit challenged as I've been serving my dinner on a kitchen counter :P

As to what possessed me to think that finding a perfect sofa would be easy, I have no idea! Just like a fabulous outfit begins with shoes or a statement purse, so does the sofa set the tone for the rest of the decor. But what I've also come to realize, I usually retire my purses after a few seasons; but my new sofa will be there from one season to the next.

With that theory aside, today I have finally narrowed my search to two white leather sectional sofas. With fingers crossed that I don’t change my mind again, I can finally move to decorating other areas.

When investing in pricier additions to my wardrobe, I research and strategize and only after seeing a number of styles do I commit to that one piece. I've learned that prior to shopping for an investment piece of furniture, it is best to have a clear idea of what you want – in the same way that you will know what purse you want prior to stepping into a store.

I AM WEARING: Gap Crewneck Pullover // Club Monaco Marianna Jacquard City Shorts // Tai Weave Crystal Bracelet // Marc by Marc Jacobs Big Idea Mirror Watch // Kate Spade Retro Sunglasses // Kate Spade New Bond Street Sawyer Purse // Bravo Browns Leopard Flats

For me Pinterest has been a lifesaver as after hundreds of pinned pictures into Home Sweet Home board, I have finally started My New Place board. Also, do not forget to measure your room and then the respective furniture options to ensure what you see in the store will actually work in your space as you want. Finally, take lots of pictures when out looking at furniture then go over all of the items when you get home, delete the ones you have changed your mind about.

Today is the big day when hopefully I will finally make my first big furniture commitment. Wish me luck :)

 With Love...
