Scandinave Spa Experience

Hello Darlings, To begin my romantic Blue Mountain getaway in style, our first couples activity after checking in at the Westin was to experience the famous Scandinave Spa. Unlike any spa I’ve experienced, the concept at Scandinave Blue is to place one in touch with nature.  As the only Nordic spa in Ontario, the facility is surrounded by forests of birch trees and has magnificent scenic views of Niagara Escarpment. The ancient practice of baths dates back more than 3000 years B.C. and is attributed to cleansing the body, improving blood circulation and releasing endorphins.

Thanks to Scandinave Spa at Blue Mountain, one reader will win two weekday passes 🙂

The Scandinavian Baths Experience begins with a warm up in the Finnish sauna, eucalyptus steam baths or outdoor baths. This opens up the pores and begins the detoxifying process. I really loved the super steamy eucalyptus room! Then a plunge into a cold water pool. Yes, it is terrifyingly cold but so worth a try! This rinses the toxins from the skin and closes the pores. The plunge also increases the heart rate and enhances blood circulation throughout the body. The final stage is relaxation, which helps re-establish equilibrium as the body returns to a normal resting state. Relax quietly in a solarium, hammock, on a terrace or by an ondoor fireplace. I actually fell asleep in one of the hammocks!

I AM WEARING: La Vie En Rose Aqua Floral Bathing Suit // Kate Spade Alda Sunglasses // Charles David Kantu Suede Sandals // Luv Designs by Crystal Michelle // Coach Madison Lindsey Satchel

To enjoy the full benefits of the Scandinavian baths, repeat this sequence three to four times. Keep in mind that every body reacts differently to heat. Personally, I could only do the sequence twice as my body is not very tolerant of heat.  Overall, the experience is amazing and very rejuvenating. It is a perfect way to spend the day!

Please Note: Contest is open to everyone over the age of 19, does not include travel. The contest closes at 11:59 am Eastern Time on June 3rd, 2012. A winner will be chose by a random number generator.

With Love…

Marta

If I were to win this give away my plus one would be my mother who is a single mother to myself and my brother. For as long as I can remember she has worked very hard to do all that she can to provide the best for my brother and I. Now that my brother and I are grown up, she still works as hard as ever (I think it is in her blood!) and never takes enough time for herself so she can enjoy the fruits of her labour. I feel that if I won this give away having my mom be my +1 would be a way for her to enjoy some rest and relaxation.

P.S. Do the weekday passes include the spa treatment that you mention above?

My +1 would be my wife. More than I, she deserves to get more out of a relaxing spa getaway. She takes care of our daughter more than I do (because of my heavy workload) so she clearly deserves the break away from the little one to recharge and relax.

My +1 would be my hard-working single mother. I would love to enjoy some mother-daughter bonding time, which doesn’t happen often. It sounds like you had a great time!

My +1 would by my hubby! I travel so much for work that we really don’t get to spend a lot of bonding time together! He works hard too and is so deserving of a little “me” time and pampering!

My plus one would be my bf. He just started a new job and could use some relaxation time from all the hard work he has been doing.

Is the cold water pool supposed to mimic jumping into snow? I have done the hot tub snow roll a few times…very invigorating!

My +1 would be my amazing boyfriend! He is a reallygreat guy and he treats me like gold. He works 12-14 hour days on his PHD and barely has time to relax and enjoy time to himself. This past May 24 weekend we were supposed to go to Montreal for the weekend but we ended up having to cancel everything as he just had too much work to do. I’d love to take him to Blue Mountain and relax together at the Scandinave Spa! :))

The pictures and resort look stunning! My guest would be my boyfriend! I’ve been living abroad in the Netherlands, and when I come home to Canada, I would love nothing more than to spend a romantic getaway in my own backyard. He flew all the way to Europe twice to surprise me with getaways, and I would love to show him how much he means to me with a special trip. He works in the arctic, so he could use a little TLC too!

    Fab blog btw!
    xoxo,
    Natalie

My plus 1would be my husband. We have both sides of our families on the west coast and east coast. Getting time away for just the two of us is a challenge. This would be so greatly appreciated and much needed. We have been married for eight years and the only vacation we have taken together, non family related was eight years ago on our honeymoon. Time for a getaway.

My plus one would be my husband. Use the time to spend being a couple for the weekend would be wonderful, as we have had our hands full since the birth of our son in March. I know we aren’t the only couple that would benefit from a little getaway!

My +1 would be my mom. I have always wanted to give her a ‘couples’ spa treatment as a lovely way for us to spend time together relaxing…but they can be quite costly!

When I get to Toronto again, I would love to go here and take Anthea. Anthea took me to my first spa, in May, when I last visited. Moms rarely have time or money to do these things while their kids are growing up. What a treat!

My +1 would have to be my mum. She hasn’t had a vacation for a while, and it would be nice to have her relax for a bit. She’s done so much for the family, it would be great to give something back.

My +1 would have to be my bf. He works long hours (12+ hrs./day) Mon. to Sat. I would love for him to get pampered and have him relax for a little bit.

Great post! I’ve always wanted to visit the Scandinave Spa. If I were to go, I would take my best friend. She’s one of the loveliest people I know – hard working, kind and all around great person. She’s been having a hard time lately, and nothing would cheer her up more than a day at the spa!

I would bring my cousin who is in the process of planning her wedding. I’m her maid of honour it would be lovely have a girls trip where we can relax with worrying about the wedding!

The boyfriend would be my +1, he’s is going through a rough patch trying to find work again, and would probably appreciate this immensely.

The thought of taking my husband to this spa, this amazingly relaxing heaven on Earth, spa was my first consideration. We have known each other for 37 years, have been married for 33. Almost all of that time he has worked as a fire fighter in Mississauga. He works hard, he rarely complains and he sees an awful lot of tragedy. He saves lives as do all the folks he works with. It is a tough job and sometimes a thankless job. This would be a wonderful way to tell him thanks for doing what he does, for choosing to run into a burning building when everybody else is running out.

Blue Mountain is like an exact replica of Mont Tremblant. Including the Spa Scandinave! There is a Nordik spa 10 mins away from Ottawa in Chelsea.

Had a similar experience when I visited family in Latvia. They had built a wood sauna next to the pond on their property in the country. You would invigorate the skin by gently striking it with wet birch branches. The sauna had an adjoining room where you could go for refreshments before heading back to the steam room to pour more hot water on the rocks heated by a wood burning fire. Would love to share a similar experience with my daughter and take her along.

If I were to win this fab prize pack I’d take my best girlfriend. Her and I have known each other for ten years. Lately we’ve both been so busy we haven’t spent a lot if time together. Our schedules are so hectic this would be a nice mini vacation for the both of us to regroup, recover and rejuvenate.

    Good luck to all!

My guest would be my new husband! We got married on august 18th and since we already have 3 small children, we don’t get to go away very often so it would be a good excuse to have some ”us” time!
