Ready, Set, Jump!

Hello Darlings, Some might be surprised to find out that I was a tomboy :) Imagine the little girl who loves wearing dresses, and then ruining them splashing in puddles (sorry Mom!). So when Blue Mountain offered to host me to their Autumn Experience getaway, I was pretty excited. The getaway included exploring the woods with their Mountaintop Segway Tours and handing on for dear life 50 feet in the air on the Timber Challenge High Ropes course!

My first experience was actually a 2-for-1 combo. First, I rode the Gondola up to the top of the mountain and enjoyed the spectacular view! And then at the top of Blue Mountain, I spent about 2 hours learning how to use a Segway courtesy of instructor Tom, and then made a tour winding through various wooded trails.

If you’ve never tried a Segway, they’re awesome! All you do is stand up straight on them, and then lean your body the direction you want to go. They have a built-in G Force sensor that knows when you want to go forward, back, or side to side. Definitely a thrill to have the chance to do that, and a great couples thing to do!

My second experience was quite a lot less mentally challenging, which was an evening visit to Scandinave Spa Blue Mountain. This was my second visit to Scandinave, and both times I have loved it.Unlike the last time,  I chickened out on the cold Nordic pool plunge, preferring to just unwind in their eucalyptus steam bath and their 100+ Fahrenheit spas.

My third experience was definitely the highlight of my trip, and without question verified that I’m still part tomboy! Timber Challenge High Ropes course is a new attraction opened earlier this summer at Blue Mountain Resort. The course is a series of challenges that you can do while on raised platforms in the forest as much 50 feet suspended in the air. You wear a harness and at all times are connected to wires suspended above you, so there is no chance to fall. But the rush of being so high above the ground is incredible.

Just like skiing, there are 3 different levels to the challenges with green, blue, and the toughest black course. For my adventure, of course I started with the easiest green challenge, and proudly made my way through the toughest black course in hour three! I highly recommend this adventure if you are up to it, especially as a couples who like adventure!

And to close out my action-packed couple of days at Blue Mountain, I tried Ridge Runner, which is a roller coaster ride down the side of the mountain. I was shocked how long the Ridge Runner course is, and even more so how fast I was able to go. You ride alone in what is like a little car connected to the roller coaster rails. You have brakes, so you can slow down to whatever speed you want, OR you can just let gravity speed you to as much as 42 kilometers per hour, which believe me is wicked fast :)

I can’t say which of the activities was my favorite since they were all so different  and amazing! The ropes course was definitely the most unique among the experiences, and is for sure worth the dedicated trip to Blue Mountain just to try that!
