Montreal Fashion Week: Ups and Downs

Hello Darlings,  With every fashion week, there are inevitably highs and lows. And with every eye of the fashion industry insiders focused and quick to judge, there really is no way for a weak link to hide. So while most designers impressed me, naturally I also had a least favorite collection during my Montreal Fashion Week experience.

Along the wonderful collections already reviewed of Melissa Nepton and Tavan & Mitto was another fabulous designer DUY.  This was my first time attending DUY's show and it was stunning.

With an abundance of aqua, touches of gold and stunning flowing dresses, DUY provided a beautiful trip down the runway with models appearing like a Grecian  goddesses. Along with the delicate color palette came sheer paneling and knitted denim. As models walked the runway to Voyage, Voyage by Desireless — one of my favorite songs thanks — one would definitively sense a touch of the French Riviera with dresses that could be a perfect wear at for Cannes film festival! From the evening gowns to adorable short-suits, the look was very tailored yet feminine.

On the opposite side of the spectrum was a disappointing show by Iris Setlakwe. Unfortunately, the clothing felt outdated and there was no flow to the collection. Known for her classic  and mature looks, this time Iris missed the mark with a collection that carried lots of potential but failed to impress. The choreography also was a miss, and in my opinion really soured the overall impression, which is sad since fashion shows should emphasize the clothes as opposed to the "experience".

I AM WEARING: Dries Van Noten Metallic Runway Jacket // Club Monaco Tristan Silk Blouse // Club Monaco Marianna Jacquard City Shorts // Tory Burch Beverly Pumps // Kate Spade New Bond Street Sawyer Purse // Pandora Leather Charm Bracelet

Following the fashion shows,  W Hotel hosted after-parties for designers Travis Taddeo and Denis Gagnon — whose shows I look forward to seeing again during Toronto Fashion Week in a few weeks! W Hotel never fails to impress, plus it is always a pleasure catching up with my friend Claudia Emde who manages the marketing for the W Montreal over a chocolate martinis!
