Fashion Design Council of Canada Celebrates

Last night I had the pleasure of attending exclusive cocktail reception at the Royal Conservatory of Music in downtown Toronto hosted by the Fashion Design Council of Canada. With a room full of the who’s who of Canadian fashion, FDCC announced World MasterCard as the new title sponsor of the Toronto Fashion Week.

No longer the LG Fashion Week, the new title—World MasterCard Fashion Week— will take effect for Fall/Winter 2012 Collections, to be presented at David Pecaut Square this March. In discussion, Robin Kay—President of FDCC and Executive Director of World MasterCard Fashion Week—said, “It is a great honour to welcome World MasterCard as the title sponsor of Fashion Week as we continue to grow our own fashion landscape with their global endorsement.”

The reception was a lovely and intimate affair with Canadian favourites such as David Dixon and Greta Constantine in attendance. It was also a pleasure for me to be able to chat with Robin Kay about Coco Chanel. And since the evening has all about our home grown talent, it was terrific to wear the designs of young Montreal designer Mélissa Nepton who presented her Spring/Summer 2012 collection at Toronto Fashion Week.
